Cool, Electric Blue is your source

Just to change things up a bit, I'm thinking about getting on the Roos bandwagon on Tuesday morning...but that's conditional on there being an available meeting room in the Qantas Club.

Not like you to jump ship.

The MM thing's been on the cards for a long time but there may have been a fear after beating Essendon* by 96 points that the "keep Ratts" element of the administration may have started to gain some traction.

What goes up must come down.

We all should have known better.

For every Essendon* there's a Gold Coast.

Story of this team for the last few years.

Doc Doc Doc. Time to admit to your obsession regarding Tammy Roos.

Or is that just American women in general?

I agree entirely GWS.

But it may have even been interesting if we'd made the finals.

We have a 59 year old man who coached for 16 consecutive years without a premiership at the 2 best resourced clubs in the AFL.
He was a balls bounce away from defeat in the 2010 GF by a team that has half the talent of Collingwood IMO.

Well BV if you are going to use that as logic for what you don't see perhaps you forgot about the 2002 grandfinal when with a team with quarter of the talent not half of Brisbane he nearly got them over the line. Take away Voss's last 15 minutes in that game and the cup was the Pies. If you want me to open your eyes even further the poor old bastard had his team peaking and playing in Grand Finals against two teams that happen to win 3 flags each in their period of dominance.
I just hope I don't have to sit through another home and away game against Hawthorn when after the first 5 minutes I know the game is over, year after year after year, or we play a team who decides to limit our run and spread and choke the friggin life out of us.

Its about premierships. Being runners up means jack shit.
Celebrating coming second or third is for St Kilda.
The history books tell us Malthouse has won 1 premiership in his last 17 years of trying. He's past it.

Allan Jeans went 17 years between premierships 1 and 2.

No worries.
So if we have to wait til 2027, its all OK then? Mick will be 76!

I wasnt in favour of Robert Hyde getting the VFL job because there is every chance of a disconnect between young players and a 60 year old man. And I reckon it came to be.
Hyde was a fantastic junior coach years ago but Gen Y is a different beast. Look at the development leagues (TAC, etc) and the majority of up and coming coaches are young.
Thats why blokes like Pagan lasted 1 year in the system.

Yet we're going with a recently sacked 59 year old. Why? Because we have a board full of flower trying to justify their positions and save their arses.

Malthouse's last 2 season's as coach were a Grand Final and a Premiership. At the age of 57 and 58. Doesn't sound like a generation disconnect to me, and he had a young team at Collingwood.

I think part of the Malthouse appeal to so many people is that in his last 2 years, he was coaching as well as at any time in his career.

Hyde's not a great example. Look at his record and style with Vic Country and his education background, he's better than a lot of Gen X's dealing with Gen Y (myself included)...Similarly Alan McConnell who just works brilliantly with young people not matter what their 'Gen'.

I don't disagree with you on the boards position in all this, which is why I'd advocate having a Burns and/or Bassett by his side who have excellent records at AFL/SANFL level with coaching young men.

Im hoping like hell they have someone other than Malthouse lined up

Heard him say earlier in the year that Judd should be played off HBF that will go down well

Fair enough. Lets look at his record in its entirety.
3 flags in 27 years. 1 every 9.

Not to mention the overwhelming majority at the best resourced clubs in the AFL.
Fabulous.
