Travis Cloke for $5m over 5yrs: NO!!!

Pretty simple this one and if the poll doesn't go the way I expect it to I think I will have a meltdown. :lol:

I don't want Travis Cloke under any circumstances. But IMO $5m over 5 years is just so bloody stupid it does not warrant discussion.

You'd have to know how it'd affect the salry cap and whether we'd need to offload to fit him. We'll lose Bower, Thornton and Russell potentially. There's a million if you replace them with draftees
I'm voting no but with caveats that it may end up being the right thing to do depending on circumstances

Is there a better way to deliver your first post in TalkingCarlton than with a big fat NO for this question.

Taking Cloke for such a ridiculous amount would be as ludicrous as taking Fev back for nothing. We have a couple of younger blokes that we can mould in the Carlton image in Casboult and Mitchell and then there is big Sam Rowe just itching to get back and show us all what he is made of.

Cloke is bad news, just like Malthouse.

Over his whole career he averages 1.58 goals per game. That's less than 40 goals a year.

Handy, but not worth one million bucks a year?! :eek:

He's just not worth the rumoured pay packet in output or what it would be doing to our list management over the next 5 years.

Everyone used that argument when we gpt rid of Fev that we'd lose his 50-80 goals a year...we ended up scoring more without him. It's not as simple as taking one number and placing it somewhere else. Brisbane played that maths game with Fev and J. Brown - even without his indiscretions it was never gonna work that way.

Yes to Cloke $3-3.5m for 5 years, no to $5m. I'm sure in a new environment he'll find his way. It's purely a money thing in relation to the cap for mine and despite his 'poor' season, he has taken marks and still kicked goals.

If we were going to give $1m to somebody I would rather it be someone who has been serving our club for a few years now and could be a future captain in Marc Murphy thanks.
Cloke isn't worth $1m imo either.

We need to fix our forward line if we head into 2013 relying on Betts Garlett , Waite Walker Casboult Hampson again we have total rocks in our head as the only one who can be relied on is Betts and he should be icing not the be all and end all . I'm not saying Cloke is the answer but you know what you get he fronts up every week and puts in - doesn't always come off for him but it is not through the want of trying . Our blokes turn up one week and go missing for the next 2 .

We need something to build a forward line around if thats Cloke than so be it - If it is some else then good on them also - but what we have now is nothing short of rubbish
