Stoppages were generally pretty good. 45 clearance to 37.

Inside 50s 66 to 43 is a wallopping....except for completely lacking in structure so often - kick it to the loose man, kick it to the pocket, come out of defence and have no one to kick to.

Same old shit against teams who have done their homework.

Barker and Ratts are the two though....and the skills coach who appears to have done zilch with Casboult.

Casboult 0 goals 5 behinds. Kicks goals out of his arse last week but this week....

Tom Bell thought he was Naitanui/Ablett and didn't take the first option...then got himself caught HTB.

I dont post often but i must say its been a emotional roller coaster tonight....I was there in 1989 when Warrick Capper kicked beyond his means when Robert walls got the sack and I was there when Marck Arceri kicked our only goal against footscray in the early 90's , I have also been there during the great strategy of the tanking and pagan years. I have also witnessed my 9 year old son become a hawthorn supporter the day buddy kicked 13 goals and we lost to port that weekend , as he put it to me "dad we are boring and were crap" and now for the icing on the cake being gold coast slamming on 7 goals in the first quarter tonight and notone player giving a shit....and then to watch waite play at full forward and gibss in the back pocket and walker at full back and then listen to ratts to defend himself.

Its over, the dark years are back unless we get a coach like Choco williams or a hungry coach like small man clarko ,.

unfortunatley madness will continue and we will probably go and get malthouse who it took 12 years for collingwood to win a premiership under his reign and if only the ball bounced the right way for Milne...

so for me I look forward to watching my kids play junior footy and junior cricket and as for the carlton football club , well I know what they thought of me tonight with the way they played ....so good riddances

I think some of you are overreacting. Put Jamo, Hendo and Laidlaw back in that side, and we win that game. These guys will be like new recruits next year, and then watch us fly.

Look, Ratts has improved us every year. And if you think of the low base we started from - the club was flowered on Black Friday - its a miracle we did so well last year (just 3 points off a prelim). Of course this year is an aberration - injuries, shocking draw, etc. and speaking of the draw, well shit. Some clubs got to play GWS, GC, and Port twice. We only played each of them once - completely unfair.

Anyway, this was the year we had to have. Ratts will learn from it. This was like Bomber's 2006 Geelong.

FLAG NEXT YEAR!!!! EXCITING TIMES!!!!!

Disgraceful perfomance tonight but a blessing in disguise. This is the loss we had to have for major changes to take effect.

Gold Coast had at least 10 of their best out tonight. No excuses . It's over for Ratts I'm afraid.

I'm really hoping that our mental weakness and inconsistent effort are purely coaching problems otherwise we'll never go anywhere this group.

As for the game itself our disposal was woeful and goal kicking even worse with Levi the main culprit with some assistance from Waite. We need to fix that quickly because we're not exactly flush with alternative forward options. I thought Walker back and Yarran forward worked fairly well. Gibbs was poor while McLean and Curnow worked hard all game. Ellard didn't offer much but looked to be limping which might explain his lack of output. Garlett was back to his mid season form. Some nice tapwork from Kreuzer.

Pretty much the way i saw it.

I don't see a new coach making much of difference with this list. He would have to trade and build a new list and hopefully kill off whatever it is that has makes us flaky for the last decade.

If coaches dont make a dfference... we should just appoint one man... for life... say at a reasonable 250k a year... and then when he dies.. his first born son takes over.. wages go up according to inflation....This coach should have a cooking background.... "Can you smell what were cooking"

This should be the new Carlton coaching strategy... called "A coaching dynasty"... Stic ks should include it in his blueprint of 3 flags in 2 years.....

Youre not serious are you club???

If this list is shit... its cos Ratts built a shit list.... and .....

This team is his team......... it has his fingerprints all over it.....

this is his sixth year as coach....

Sure there is something positive.

2013 is the beginning of the post Ratten era.

I hope he can come to some kind of understanding with the club is there is any money at stake and just resign with some decorum.

I had a front-row seat to the lowest moment in the history of this football club.

I thought it was seeing Norf smack us by 20 goals, and Geoffrey Edelsten winning our end of season raffle.
I thought it was seeing an undermanned Hawthorn outfit monster us by over 100 points without Franklin
I thought it was seeing us lose Kouta, Sos and Braddles within minutes against Essendon* in 2000

This topped them all...

I am one who thinks that you cant blame the coach for the nonsense the players served up tonight. However, that is it for Ratts. We must be seen to be doing something even just for 2013 membership. The pass mark was stated very early on of top four. We didnt even make finals. So unfortunately a great servant must depart. Lets hope it is done with professionalism leaving him with his dignity. Thanks Ratts you have given us a platform to build, but unfortunately you wont be the one to get us a flag.

I have tried to remain upbeat all year, but tonight feel as flat as last weeks coke.

Players always cop it....

Some have had their papers stamped already by the coach.

One was a runner for the Bullants last week.....

Time for the conductor to go too.....

I'm sure the usual suspects will line up to crap on the possibility but it looks remarkably like our players intentionally lost their shit tonight.

Why?

Six week ago Ratten was gone and had no hope of coaching us next year. Even Sticks was making noises.

The players then started to play a bit better and surprise suprise we won a few games.

Suddenly the media turns on a "save Ratts" campaign this week and what happens? Our players serve up the biggest load of shit in living memory.

How many sycophants does it take serving up "they're playing for the coach" before a player who's fed up with the current situation cracks?

If we'd won tonight and missed out next week it'd be "so close" yet again. And Ratts would keep his job.

We didn't win tonight when we had absolutely everything to play for against one of the most inexperienced teams that's ever taken the field in and AFL game and we deserve to be hauled over the coals for it.

There are two people who have ultimate responsibility for the direction of the club and the team.

Ratts is one.

Sticks is the other.

Both have to go.

People will crap on it because it makes no sense. If they hated the coach why not just put the cue in the rack a month ago and guarantee he's fired when he was already under the pump rather than improve their efforts and risk the chance that he stays? If the 1st half tonight was due to wanting him gone why would they have improved in the 2nd? It's not like Ratts support in the media is a new thing. It's been going on for weeks now.
