It's interesting that an advertisment on this sight asks the question '(you) got balls?'.

It's a gambling ad, and I don't even do that. So much for your theory.

Very good, have a laugh, but I think you both know I was referring to whether Carlton have the balls to make a decision either way with regards to Ratten.

Paf, still joking about the ads, nothing Ratts related.

Anything Ratts can wait until the season is over now.

I don't think measuring how long it takes for a coach to win a flag is going to tell you much as each situation is different. List quality and experience, quality of competition as well as all the off-field stuff that goes into putting together a great team would need to be considered as well.

Not sure if this has been posted as yet but Roos has an article up regarding our coaching situation.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl ... 6457686034

Thanks in8. From the article

......"In my view, the board will not replace Ratten if it makes a rational assessment of his tenure at the club".

:sly: :sly: :sly: First Walls, then Parkin, Eade & Thompson gave him the thumbs up. Now Roos. Let the Spin and deflect begin.

Thats a very naive way to read that article.

He says he supports Ratts (as if he would say he wants a c oach sacked)

and then says some might want Malthouse to come in and lift that cup up something that hasnt been done in a long time for this proud club.... just paraphrasing

but nwhere does he say Ratts in his thoughts is capable of winning the flag....

where does Roos tell us Ratts is a coach capable of winning a flag???

Its just a piece.....

............And I rest my case Your Worship. :thanks:

About as predictable as sunrise.

Regards Cazzesman

Has an ex-coach ever bagged or spoken ill of another coach's performance? Apart from possibly Grant Thomas when he's chasing notoriety. Honestly, how often does it ever happen?

Make up your own mind on Ratten (or any other coach in the comp). don't look to others to do it for you.

I guess Roos could have chosen another topic to write about if he had reservations on Ratten and didn't want to be seen to be sugar coating. I doubt he had a gun to his head forcing him to say something positive.

Regards Cazzesman

You can talk in riddles/spin all you like Cazzesman, but my post above wasn't a question, it was a statement!

Don't need your confirmation, it was on BigFooty, but I heard it elsewhere

Ratten isn't on his own..McCartney did the same thing with Smith/Crozier but at least Smith was still a youngster not a perceived quick fix :banghead:

Perhaps.
But you can't play the 'Ex Coach says good thing about Ratten' game without acknowledging that there may well be another ex coach who thinks he's hopeless, but niceties dictate that ex coaches NEVER say anything negative about their brethren.

Personally, I don't take a lot of media commentary at face value. Most of what an ex coach or player says is compromised (look at the flak they get if they ever actually speak their mind on anything even remotely contentious) to the point where it's not something you can really use to form a decent opinion.

Case in point: I think everyone in footy knew that Primus was failing miserably. Did anyone hear a single ex coach come out and say this? Did any ex-coach come out and say that Sheedy had lost the plot in his last couple of years? (Wallsy may have out of sheer animosity I think, but everyone else just shuts up).

A club that still thinks it's the VFL.

Now that it's over. Time to hand in the keys.

Great player. Mediocre coach.

It's ok not many coaches can achieve greatness.

Ratten can leave with 1 finals victory in his coaching career.

If he's there next year... I may just not attend any games. Membership always, just can't put myself through it.

Mr Cazzesman... you have to explain this.......

I know you believe fairytales about Ratts being a great coach.

But explain how GC with more in juries than us huffed and puffed and blew the Ratts coaches house down...

This i need to hear.....
