I guess Roos could have chosen another topic to write about if he had reservations on Ratten and didn't want to be seen to be sugar coating. I doubt he had a gun to his head forcing him to say something positive.

But you can't play the 'Ex Coach says good thing about Ratten' game without acknowledging that there may well be another ex coach who thinks he's hopeless, but niceties dictate that ex coaches NEVER say anything negative about their brethren.

Personally, I don't take a lot of media commentary at face value. Most of what an ex coach or player says is compromised (look at the flak they get if they ever actually speak their mind on anything even remotely contentious) to the point where it's not something you can really use to form a decent opinion.

Case in point: I think everyone in footy knew that Primus was failing miserably. Did anyone hear a single ex coach come out and say this? Did any ex-coach come out and say that Sheedy had lost the plot in his last couple of years? (Wallsy may have out of sheer animosity I think, but everyone else just shuts up).

Let's start taking bets on when the announcement is. I'm in for Tuesday 18th September.
