After 5 years you have doubts.
I think that is the problem, supporters, boards and the media all have doubts.
I reckon after 5 years in the job there should be no doubts.

Pies had doubts on Malthouse after 9 years.

All clubs have doubts when it comes to their coach.

If you dont win the premiership there should be some doubts over your coach.

Gee I thought Ratts didn't like him and had stamped his papers.

What is happwning with Jamison? A 1-2 week hammy has now turned into 3.

I am betting he won't play again this year.

No such thing as a one week hammy, I only ever read one week on TC, could be wrong though. They are always 3 week injuries. No point in risking him this week if we're a chance to play finals, need him fit and firing then (or next week at least)

Are you new to Carlton?

The only football club in OZ that misspells 'months' as 'weeks'...

Carlton Emergencies: Jordan Russell, Rhys O’Keeffe, Pat McCarthy

Looks like Pat is heading to the GC- not named in NB Lineup

Yes on carltonfc.com.au they say that.

We know what Ellard offers and it isn't as good as what McLean offers circa 2012 by a long shot.

Really surprised ROK wasn't given some game time here. Slot him on the wing or HB and let him show off his left foot.

Geez, who would have thought that a guy as tough as Mitch would miss a game from having the ball handballed into his head.

Hope he is right for next week.

Probably wasn't lace out, but lace IN. Plus the little rubber nipple (are we allowed to say that here?) might have penetrated (are we allowed to say that here?) his defences.

Glad to see Ellard in. Follows the maxim of type for type. Ellard will be keen to have a good one.

Great for Ellard. If you believe the rumours has knuckled down regardless and acted like a pro. His form is outstanding. Is he in our BEST 22 maybe not but at the moment we need the hardness and desperation of a bloke with nothing to lose that can be relied on. Mitch will be back. Doubt he will boot out Ellard. He will deliver! Shame about Watson. Cannot believe 360 said we are at risk of getting ahead of ourselves with this one. After the Port debacle Ratts will have them ready. Will not go out like Primus

I dont see Ellard as a McLean type. It isnt his go and he isnt big enough.

If you want to compare him I see him as a Carrazzo type. He is a worker and an accumulator. Has a bit of zip and can kick a goal.

His improvement and work rate since coming to the club has been as good as anyone. I just see him getting better and better.

I know you're a fan but I disagree. I think McLean has clearly taken his spot and McLean is proving a better inside player by a long way. Ellard can be a liability at senior level, particularly if McLean is in the same team as our midfield spread & defensive work breaks down. I think he was a liability in his last game with us despite the chorus of complaint at him being dropped I was happy with the selection.

To follow your point however if he is Carrazzo's backup Ellard won't be getting many games for a while. Yes he can take a mark and kick a goal and I think if he plays resting FP is a good idea but oin our forward line it's hard for Ellard to get substantial time there.

Solid player who can do bits of a few things but limited overall. Good 23rd-25th player on the list.

My doubts are centred on our players being able to cope with an opposition who want us to play a certain way.
In the 5 years generally speaking when a strong opposition makes it a tight, physical contest and limits our spread we get smashed.
You sit there and watch the game and within about 10-20 minutes of the first quarter you know it is game over.
This has not changed.

Given his form I don't see that as a bad thing. He clearly can play, but I've seen a lot of very ordinary games from him this year, (presumably due to injury).

Lets show some faith in the incumbents.

The time gap between tomorrow night and when we last played GC would have to be close to some sort of VFL/AFL record for time between two teams meeting.....I would have thunk?

He has a few good games and then fades. Goes back to the two's and then dominates. Comes back in has a few good games then fades.
Needs to get on top of that.

Good player when at his best.

I know it has nothing to do with how they'll line up on Saturday, but that bench is built for trench warfare.

And some clubs have played GC 4 times since we last did.

On the record for gaps between games I'd reckon you need to look at the war years.

Several clubs didn't field teams in some WW1 years (in fact only 4 clubs participated in 1916).

Geelong were in recess in 1942 and 43.
