Don't want to sidetrack the post-match, but you need a system a little more sophisticated than just seeing if blokes kill it in the VFL and then bring them up. Was Casboult 'demanding' a game? No. And if Henderson and Hammer weren't injured, I suspect we all know that he never would have been brought up, and he'd be another failure of the development system.

Anyway, as Ratten said: luckily for them we got injuries. It's the only way up from the VFL at carlton.

If those guys were fit earlier in the season and not injured would it still be an accident?

Yes, according to Brett Ratten this morning when asked about Bell, Casboult, McInnes, White:

"Gee, as a Match committee you sit back and wonder if we didn't cop those injuries, at the end of the year how would we be able to make an assessment of some of those boys?"

Way over the top Johnm. They would have got a go if we didnt have those injuries but still got the terrible results we were getting. They may have even come in earlier in that case......if they were fit.

Amateur hour posting maybe.

It was good.

Around the edges of my dream, were shadowy figures telling me i shouldn't be happy with this.
That it might mean we'd keep a coach they don't want. they were sticking at him with pitchforks..even though we won by so much.

Hard to believe, I know.. but dreams are funny like that.

I agree with the tweets about playing cute at times.
some awful disposals from both teams too.. but overall

a jolly good day out.

Thanks Blueboys. :thanks:

That's 4 or 5 times today you've dragged that out.

96 point victories will do that.

A rookie coming back from a knee injury should struggle to get into a fully fit team, which makes Levi's performance since introduced even more remarkable. Chased Dempsey down twice and just about kicked goal of the year. Then again the MC must have thought about playing him in the AFL before he got injured because he did play NAB Cup for us this year.

Enjoy the win or go post in the Malthouse thread and let others enjoy the win.

North play Freo next week. We just need to keep winning (and big)
Am I allowed to enjoy and celebrate a big win against the red and black flogs or are we still baracking for the opposition like last week?

Disclaimer
(this statement is not an endorsement of the current coaching group or anyone associated with the club. I just enjoy beating Essendon*)

He wasn't demanding a game because he was injured most of the year. He was also elevated to the senior list at the start of 2011 before going down with injury. Also you've ignored the obvious point that Bell and Casboult are both rookies and long term injuries are needed to elevate them.

Great game from the boys. Nice to put an end to their season. Hopefully Richmond can get up.

Levi was also elevated last year before injury hampered his chances of playing seniors IIRC? Yes, he got a game this year because of injuries but you make it however you can, and he's making the most of the opportunities.
Played a beauty today. Bell was also good when he came on.
May have the same 22 line up next week against GC unless any suspensions come from the scuffles.
Would like to ROK play again next week for a full game.

I agree. They should try Hird as the senior coach and maybe Bomber as a senior assistant......

Could be a swap for 2E.

I reckon they should rename Essendon* Bombers to the Essendon* Snipers. Can win without taking out a few blokes from the opposition can they!

The spin doctors who are currently just pulling a few 3" nails out of the coffin they had nailed shut.

Yibbida here's the irony of the maybe, couldbe, shouldbe mentality.

If we don't get the injuries and we win more games and finish top 4 everyone (mostly) are happy. The kids get some continuity in the VFL and come on at a more sedate pace, just like the all days.

If we don't get injuries and we lose the games, players would get dropped and new lads bought in to play as warranted. The 'What ifs and Maybe's are endless.

Put your hand up who had McInness, Casbolt and Bell in our best 25, 6 weeks ago....................................I thought not.

Regards Cazzesman
