Don't take it the wrong way, but if that's true then this team is busted beyond belief.

They decide which games they really want to be up for, and which games they just turn up to?

How about they decide that they really want a premiership, and turn up to play every bloody week? They won't win every game, but they won't be dishing out the kind of crap that saw them get smashed by the likes of Port Adelaide.

I think we're just hoping for a win John.

Yes we are not traveling well and it's been an ordinary season but wins , particularly against the Bombers, are enjoyable.

We're still in it and a number of us are interested in the outcome given what happened last time. We also get to see how Mcinnes, Bell and Casboult etc play so it's a game that deserves our attention.

It's always exciting the morning of a game against Essendon*, rain or shine.

Spewing I can't be there, but will be anxiously following the scores all day. I suppose if the result goes the way I think it will anyway it won't matter that I wasn't there...(predicting a loss), but at the same time, I won't be pissed off if I miss this game and we happen to win. Would take a 1 point win.

All week leading up to this game you're reminded of how much you hate these flowers. Come game day though it's at a different level. Want to smash these bastards all over the place. Will accept a 1 point win but a 100+ win would be even better.

41 points is all we need.

I think you miss my point.

When I hear word come out that 'the boys want this' it tells me that the boys decide when and where they're on.

Inconsistency of application will guarantee that we never get the best out of this playing group.

I understand your point and share the frustration and although a good effort today doesn't change our poor efforts through the season, it's still preferable to another poor performance.

The rest of the post is in relation to your post re the weather.

Just want to win.

tbf, with our 3 best defenders out injured and needing to go with a small backline, it's far from favourable for us.

They're at full strength.

It's all relative.

Thanks Braith for explaining....and to those with the weather reports.

We did really bad in defence against the bigger NM bodies... for the same reason...too big...ref Petrie.

It doesn't matter where the Bumbers Blues and pies are placed when they play each other...fact of life....gotta expect that miracle...nothing to do with 8th spot.

Are Freo supporters as moronic as Eagles supporters? From the few games I have seen on TV they don't seem quite as bad.

In general they are a bit more knowledgeable, a lot younger and live in cheaper suburbs.

They are also a bit more passionate I feel, but also a bit more fragile because they've been so awful for a long long time. Bit of a chip on the shoulder re the Eagles and their success.

Not taking that the wrong way at all. This is one of my biggest gripes too!
It's just not good enough, I agree.

I read an article in The Age today and Riley admits we had difficulty adapting to the plan opposition used on us to crowd our forwardline whilst keeping there's open...and he stated that we have learned how to play against that tactic, so maybe its a case of improvement in understanding the game by the kids rather than getting up for just this game. I have no doubt that our players are developing, and maybe the coaches are too. Experience is the motherof all learning...and our kids are getting better.

I don't think we're in excepttional form, but our attitude for the physical contest has improved outa sight...something we didn't do in Rnd 4.

To those who don't understand the importance of this game, I'll explain that whilst many of us want to make the finals which makes this and the next 2 must win games (depending on Freo to drop one against NM or Tigers), its bigger than that....its called rivalry.

Traditional rivals for Carlton are Collingwood and Essendon* ( these are the 4 most important games of the year) followed by the Tigers who haven't really troubled us since 1980 (other than the final in 2000 when Knights fell across Koutas knee and we lost to them when we were red hot in the finals race....to end an amazingly successful era for the Blues starting back in the 60's).

COME ON....I'm pumped, and these rivalry games are the most exciting of all...I wouldn't miss a rivalry game for anything....bring it on!!!!!!!!

It is diabolical weather out there right now. As good as the drainage is at the MCG, this one is going to be sloppier than...

Welsh = Overrated male model tosser.

Bummers have no underdog excuses so they have to manufacture some motivation based on media hearsay in order to fire themselves up.

Sash wearing self loving suck holes.

Ending the bummers' season would make my year.
