Ratts asked Curnow to do a job last week and he did it well. He was never going to get dropped after that. They play different roles anyway.

Geez, so ROK gets his 12 minutes of game time last week (and seemingly only brought on because betts copped a knock to the calf) and he's out this week.

What's the point?

The point is, last week he was blooded. It was a sign from the MC that he is on the right track and to keep at it. He probably knew he would be the first to go barring injury.
This week Judd is back. Someone had to go. It is ROK.
He will get his chance.

Forwards look good
Midfield looks good
Backs :hitcomputer: one day we may get a run with Jamo and Hendo in the side for more than a couple of weeks at a time....

Was at the game last time when we got belted, so bad my little bloke almost in tears and the 9yo carlton girl beside us telling me she thought we were GWS

Will be interesting to see what the coaches and players learnt from that game, so many turnover goals in to a vacant fwd line - big test for Ratts

Hope we win, Go Blues

You haven't seen what they learnt (sic) in the ensuing 17 weeks? I'll give you a hint. It starts with N and rhymes with "hot much".

Wow...weird. And here I was thinking that it was so you could use your membership in the month of September. Silly me.

I hope the Bombers play Zaharakis - no way he'll be close to being fully fit after such a long layoff.

As others have posted - I'm surprised Watson has been omitted. If it doesn't rain we'll be in trouble due to a lack of height/size in defence.

Blooded?
It was more like a papercut.

I wonder if Betts didn't get that knock when they would've 'blooded' ROK? At the 28 minute mark?

People question why our kids don't seem to come on as well as others. Maybe it's an unwillingness of the coach and MC to actually play them (unless they have no choice).

Anyway, hope we can trip Essendon* up tomorrow, and hope ROK maybe can get maybe 20 minutes at AFL level in his next game.

I reckon win or lose this weekend, ROK will get a full game the following week. If the season comes down to the Saints, the most experienced team we have will be picked. And there's no AFL club that would select any other option if they were in our place.

If the season is over, all the kids will get a run.

Actually I tend to aggree with this.

I think how we've "Blooded" some of our kids this year and even last year has been questionable at best.
Bring them on in the last qtr as a Sub and then drop them the next week!

I believe that the dropping of ROK (even though he might well play) is wrong but I dont mind the rest of the side. Bit of toughness out there at the moment and thas good.

Should really win this one!

Not really but I can see why you might think that.

Win or lose, a very simple choice.

Dont really get dropping watson for duigan both about as slow as each other and whilst the match committee think duigan is tough he cant stand a tall forward - its got to pelt with rain otherwise our already small and depleted backline will be murdered - perfect game for Watson to show his true colours against good opposition

Given ROK has been played twice for not much game time in 2 years and the extent of our injuries I dont think the MC rate him - cant see how they can judge him with 2 little cameos

Hope we win but cant see it objectively with that backline cant see it - it seems that white is about the only choice for Ryder and Hurley - bummers will certainly load up with hurley ryder and crameri in the front half - mcinnes presumably will play on crameri - not sure there is another match up

Anyone know if Eddie Betts has been training? Pickers said there were questions over him and after being subbed with calf soreness last week it wouldn't surprise me if he was in doubt. Think he has to play if we're going to win this match, he always dominates Essendon*.

Day before the match and I'm already nervous about this match. Playing finals is really beyond our control now so all I want it to smash these flowers.

All their players are coming back from injury, while ours continue to drop like flies.

But it'll be a brave win for them still.

I'm confident that we'll go out there and play hard, do our best to hit targets etc etc ....

The one thing I'd like to see on top of that are cool heads. Let them have their mouthing off etc and DO NOT RETALIATE. Geez I hate it when we get sucked in and start giving aways frees and 50's with pussy little comebacks. I don't even want them to make a mental note to tackle that guy hard next time ... all our tackles should be a maximum legal intensity anyway.

Please Carlton : ignore and/or absorb the niggle and just play the game.

John, I don't understand the fuss about O'Keefe getting dropped, do we actually want to win the game or do we just want to play kids and get accused of tanking.
I want to see what the kids have got as much as you do, but not at the cost of a win.
We can only carry so many inexperienced players into a game, for me at the moment that is Mc Innes, Bell & Casboult, I think they would offer more than O' Keefe, or maybe we should leave Judd out.
