Yep this is my concern - our backline without Jamo, Henderson and Laidler.
Ratts said Jamo was 50/50 earlier in the week however you'd think he is unlikely to play.

Should be a fair amount of feeling between the two teams, you'd reckon.

How often do we think this in the leadup to these games, only to get caught with our pants down from the opening bounce? These !@#$%& do it to us better than most.

ya know what DS..if it happens this time,
I'm gonna put my membership in the microwave, and support freo.

I don't mean if we lose, just that I would put my seaside cottage on us trying from the 1st bounce. Even, and especially, if they knock one of ours out (of play) again.

Specific selection for Alwyn Davey or Leroy Jetta (noting last week Brisbane didn't really have a flakey soft forward pocket who looks good when you're winning by 10 goals but otherwise compete for the softest weakest duds in the competition)?

We really need to find a replacement for Joseph...
I like the guy but he reached his ceiling a while ago and it's WAY off the mark.
At his best he can play a good shut down role on a small forward/mid.
However if he's not at his best, which he isn't very often, he is at danger of being absolutely toweled up by his man.

Problem is, when this happens, he doesn't have any offensive weapons to go and perform another role.
And he is then just a liability. His limitations may be hidden a bit better in a top 4 team

Jeez, it's bleak when you put it like that. Our 3 best defenders by a mile missing.

That's like the cats minus Scarlett, Taylor and Enright.

They wouldn't win too many.

He wouldn't be in a top 4 team.

We will get flogged. Round 3 we had a full team in, we were systematically dismantled, and guess what, every round this year we failed to address out structural weaknesses.

Look for Carlton to load and forward and bang it in, only to watch the bombers stream out into open space forward for an easy shot at goal. Nothing has changed. The rate we get scored against in for our D50 entries is staggering sometimes, whilst we are probably the most inefficient team going forward. The bombers know this and it plays straight into their hands. They will clog the midfield, stop our run and away it will go.

Sorry to be so negative but there has been nothing done this year to address it. Hell, most of our scores come from opposition stuff ups - it's the same every week and the bombers worked us out first!

The only way we will win is if Judd drags us over the line and Betts kicks 5-6 - LIKE ALWAYS!!!

Sick of hearing this. We've been rubbish all year when only Laidler of those 3 has been out
It's only been the last 6 weeks that we've actually had a bad injury list and we've won 4 of them anyway.
Cop out

weather for Saturday 18/08
TIME TEMP RAIN WIND
07:00–13:00 9° 9.0 mm Moderate breeze, 7 m/s from southwest

Having an overall tall forward set up may not help in the wet.
Having running defenders who put their body on the line may be the focus for the team selection.

Win the midfield battle and in a lot of ways the defence becomes irrelevant
