Probably should have beaten Port and made it 14 wins then....

Hardly, imo ... The draw is a joke with the new expansion clubs.

Getting handed 4 wins a year if you get GWS & GC twice. Add to the cream Melbourne and the bulldogs and just like that a team could have 8 wins and trot out their ressies.

Adelaide and Sydney are the best 2 teams in the comp, everything MM said was right.

I'm frustrated as a fan we won't see the best 8 in the playoffs, rather, we'll see the best 5 or 6 teams and then the teams with the luckiest draw.

We lost to everyone bar Fremantle currently 5th to 12th. Plenty of opportunities to take points away from them.

You only play 5 teams twice. Swap Richmond, Collingwood and Brisbane for GWS, GC and Port and we would be no better off, considering we went 2-0 against all 3 of them.

Adelaide, Sydney, Hawthorn, Geelong, West Coast. 5 of the clear Top 6 we only played once.

It,s simple if you are good enough you make it should not matter who you play once or twice so Ratts stop with the excuses please.

Pretty simple 11 wins before GC/GWS was usually enough to just finish in the eight 8, add 3 basket cases and of course that number of wins will increase.

Bottom line is if Ratts team could beat more than 1 team in the eight it wouldn't matter what the draw looks like.

Maybe he's just trying to improve his profile to attract a potential employer....

Ratts sounds a bit confused to me. Whether or not 13 wins gets you in the finals is a different matter than it being more or less difficult for some teams to get that many wins because of the draw. If thirteen isn't enough then that is probably more reflective of the evenness of the middle half dozen or so teams.

I'm still inclined to think that his performance doesn't warrant an early sacking though. We may have lots of early picks but I'm not convinced our list is that good. A new coach adds a bit of excitement but it only takes a few losses and it wears off pretty quickly ... and then what do you do?

Summed up perfectly.

I would say a GOOD coach cruelled by injuries and a fixture.

A GREAT coach would likely have overcome this I think. Whether that means he should go - not sure but I am starting to lean more towards yes if the replacement is a GREAT coach.

A good coach would not have been outcoached by Primus. I suspect that was the tipping point.

It's simple, and I'm surprised Ratten doesn't seem to understand.

In a 16 team comp, 50% of teams made the finals. So normally the eighth team (just marginally better than average won 11 or 12 games (half or just over)

In an 18 team comp with the same final eight, 44.4% of teams make the finals. Eighth is clearly better than the bottom half of teams. 9th is actually in the top half of the ladder. So it stands to reason that to make finals you are more likely to need 13+ wins. It's the new normal.

We play 3rd, 8th, 10th, 12th and 13th (current ladder) twice. Tough draw?

Yes some teams got a very soft draw, but his arguments are lame and complaints juvenile.

I would have thought our record against the current top eight teams is comparable with most others in the eight.
Our issue is the Port Adelaide loss.

His track record is littered with these kinds of losses.

Most coaches have a track record of bad losses.

You really should just sit back and let the Ratts coaching saga play out because right now you come across as vulture sitting on the carcass of their prey.

It lacks a certain class when you do that.
