are we there yet ?????

this has been like watching a car crash in super slow motion !

Carlton demands the ultimate success...it became apparent to me some years ago that rats was not capable of delivering it...and ultimately there was to be only one conclusion...a messy one !

the sad truth is this should have happened 2 years ago !

Terrific response from Ratts today

"I don't know if the coaches box can be that big"
" Mick is there on monday"
"Roosy is there on tuesday"
"Bomber is there on wednesday"
:)

Never on a sunday?

Melina Mercouri sang that decades ago...

I think you will find it wont be messy at all and most of the messy stuff is already done.

Some may even respect the way Ratts has handled it all in the wash up.

Interesting JJ. When you first start following this site you don't know what to
make of any of the claims. I've been around a little while now and am just
starting to get a feel for those posters who really do know something and those
that just claim to. I've noticed a few of the long timers don't respond at all to
certain posters. I suspect, in some cases at least, this is because they've got to
know that their "facts" aren't worth much.

There's been a few posters now who say that Ratten is definitely gone and MM is
in. FACT.

I await with much interest.

Look these times are more sophisticated than the past.. but we have painted ourselves into a corner....
Im not sure when we will embrace modernization... but its not happening now...
Its in our DNA....

And yeah... MM is a saviour.....
We shall see.....

Its been a while between drinks.
Theyre not going with the unknown now.

I heard "someone" say that one of the big pushes for a new coach was to address the poor membership numbers.
Rats does not appeal but the new person will.

I've just caught up with this thread.

The CH7 News story I saw last night showed Swann walking to his Office as the story began that Swann had orchestrated a deal to bring Cloke and Malthouse to the Club for next season.

I was busy at the time and didn't hear any other comments.

Im not surprised board is split I have mixed feelings myself as I know others do - the last few weeks make a case for his retention and now he is getting the most out of the personnel he is putting on the ground as well as setting us up for the future with all the inexperienced players being played - not sure for parts of the season he was getting the most out of more talented squads

Im not usually in the sack the coach squad and think generally coach should get to complete his contract - this is made more difficult in this circumstances when the incumbent is a carlton premiership player etc -He has a pretty good record in terms of win/loss ratio - apart from this year has had us improve every year of his tenure - at the moment it looks like the team is playing for him.

Having said that he has had 5 years and my real concern with him has always been whether he could take us to ultimate success - Is it time to strike - would anyone done much better with the injury riddled season -Is he tactically able enough to take us forward

It is a really difficult decision - on balance in my view he stays but I can understand if the board makes a decision to change

That's a sound and rational look at the situation Frank.....I'm with you there.

My issue is he has been there for 5 years , given 3 number 1 picks , a raft of first rounders plus the best player in the league . Has he under or over achieved? Has there been other coaches with the same or less that have achieved more? What is the benchmark they are using to assess his progress?

Very good post!!

I myself am tending towards "change now" as we have limited time regarding certain players career and the famous "window". But it does depend on who we would bring in / who is really available and additional changes to improve the football department.

Interesting comments from Ratts- get the feeling he is preparing a dosier to present to the board on why we are so shite this year
