Essendon* aren't that tough. Hawthorn are tough, Essendon* pretend to be but have half a side of soft-c0cks. We went in hot favourites last time, over confident and didn't work hard enough. Same side we blew away 6 months earlier. Essendon* always get us in round 3-4 as they are up and about alot earlier. As usual, they turn to sh1t later in the season. They can't intimidate anyone now.

Yes, I have seen our personnel. You mightn't bit I have. It does helps having Casboult and Bell, one or two can make a huge difference, you should know that if you know anything at all, especially in the right places in the guts of a contest. We are actually better placed now to absorb sides what most sides throw at (Hawthorn maybe not). Don't have to dish it, just asborb it well. The blokes we have in now are actually a bit better in that aspect even if we are unable to actually play as well skill-wise as we were. We matched the Swans well in every aspect of of contested footy even if we were killed in ball use, which, in turn, cost us badly in a 22pts game.

Still sticking to the same line I see.
If you knew anything you would know any new kids coming into any contact sport need the physical support and presence of their senior team mates, we don’t have that.
We also don’t have a coach that breeds that type of player and until we do we will always be that type of bullied team, but been a high end athletics coach you would know all about physicality.

Having said that we did bully the Pies both times we played them. If only we could get that performance each week.

Well, to be fair, it's because our form is slightly less crap than Essendon*'s.

No way, on any objective measure, their recent form is far better.

V Roos, Blues lose 54 pts, Dons lose 18 pts. At least they were competitive, too.

V Crows, Blues lose 54 pts (Etihad), Dons lose 4pts (@ AAMI!).

Thet belted us Rd 4 and had at least 10 more scoring shots. The respective percentages tell the tale too, many of the teams we have fallen in against or lost to they have belted (e.g. Swans, Weagles, Freo).

Remember, we were $1.13 the last time we played them.

Just hope we can find another notch or two on Saturday and that the late season slump/fatigue gets worse for them.

Agree the $1.13 was weird.

They didn't belt the Swans by the way - they lost to them :?

I didn't think they were that competitive against North. Kangas lost 2 players by qtr time then Grima went off in the last. They still won by 4 goals...which very rarely happens in today's footy. If we weren't able to beat a team that undermanned on the day we'd be calling us insipid (& blaming Ratts  )

They've won one game in 6 weeks & are slight outsiders. Big deal.

Anyway, hope we play out of our skins. Should be a good game of footy.

I think there is a steely resolve about us this week

I get the same feeling from them as I did before last years final against them, and I for one won't be surprised at a similar result

Ever since the Judd suspension, I believe an "us versus the world" mentality has come into the group..

Can't wait for the weekend!!

Being a high end track and field coach has very little to do with understanding physicality and a is stupid and very simplistic point. Doesn't say much for you depth of thinking. If you want to go further I'm also a qualified Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer so I just might know a bit on the subject. Any going beyond the p1ssing contest, McInnes, Bell, Casboult and even Watson seem far more likely to absorb what's thrown in front of them than other's we've had previously. Then you have McLean, Armfield, Robinson, Touhy (a bit out of form admittedly) etc..plus Judd back and you might find we might be a little stronger in the clinches than we were previously. Might add Duigan and even Collins in there, you know the bloke that get carted off on a stretcher playing for Richmond only to come back on take two huge marks under physical pressure for 2 goals to win a game for them. Don't have to dish it out, just absorb it and not flinch. Maybe not as skilled as the other's yet but but better placed to asborb the more physical aspects. Difference is I look at the actual personnel not the stupid line "they're kids so they can't be as strong". Bell (a powerful 95kg mid) and Casboult bashing packs and bodies add alot of aggression, you know that, I know that, rest there won't flinch like others previously. Easy enough? That's the difference between some of us, some of us actually think other's just stereotype without thinking.

You stick to your line and I'll stick to my more correct line.

Club those type of wins are an anomaly not the norm when we're 11th and the other team is equal top....bit like the tigers wins over the hawks and swans....where are the tigers? And where are those two they beat?....

Inability to get those sort of performances on a regular basis are what irks me. We have been too flaky for too long. Different coaches, different staff working behind the scenes, Judd, leading teams and nothing seems to break the pattern.

A culture of survival borne out of the dark years.

You're spot on club - we need senior people at the club (you know who) replaced by ruthless, confident, winners.

If we won.. 3 games more back then???
