I can't recall a game where we've been able to take Watson out of the game. Carrazzo doesnt seem to be an effective tagger on Watson and we'd probably need him elsewhere. How has Bell gone as a defensive mid... right size for Watson. Watson is the 2012 Brownlow winner for mine and a key to their midfield - they have too many outside and only 2 inside, Watson being the only good one. Take Watson out and we're a good show.

I don't think their form is as bad as the recent results suggest. Our foot skills are not as good as theirs so if we allow them space I think they'll kick a winning score against our U/18's defence.

Would like to see the Bell/watson matchup think this kid hasnt done a bad job at shutting players down
Unfortunately with Stanton missing Ratts will hand the job to carrotts
Carrazzo hasnt reached the same form he had at the start of the year hopefully this game sparks a form reversal

Would love to finish them off for the year as it is widely accepted it was them that sent our season spiralling out of control

They blew us off the park last time in the opening 15 minutes with their physicality , this time I get the feeling we're ready, waiting and with Judd off the leash ... we're capable.

It's gonna be good.

Exactly !!

Last time they caught us by surprise !

If we're not ready for em this time round then we're dumber than I thought.
And with Judd having a months rest, he should return all guns blazing !!

Cant wait to watch this sequel !!

Not old fashioned at all Braithy.Lots of things have changed in footy, but being ferocious at the footy is number one rule in footy, now, forever, and always.

Sub should be one of Curnow, Scotland, Bell & Robinson. If Gibbs is going to play higher up the ground, others from the midfield are going to have to take their turn to support the remaining five defenders.

They said he's a chance this week. White stays otherwise, or maybe Bower will come in for one of Watson and White.

We've beaten 1 team in the eight this year, don't like our chances against a team who will get up for us. It would need an amazing turn around in form as we've been crap for months.

Curnow has been relegated to a tagger as he isn't good enough in other roles. I would prefer a full game for RoK over a player whose last chance to make it is as a tagger. Nothing against Curnow, but he's had a decent chance.

What if playing a tagger is the right thing to do tactically.?

Bower will never been seen in Carlton's senior side again I'm tipping.

Whats your definition of a 'tagger' as opposed to 'run with' players? Do you think there are different degrees?

out: curnow & touhy

curnow unlucky following good tagging job against lions but imo mclean deserves to play to the end of year + bell > curnow (getting the ball, capable of shutdown role, more physically suited to watson). If robinson is suspended then curnow stays.

touhy dropped as he has struggled for a bit.

scotland to sub (managing his workload given he has played most game this year)

My definition is Players who influence the contest both ways. Carrazzo, Ling, Sewell, K.Cornes are what I call run with, they are damaging with ball in hand, you could legitimately tag them.

Toovey, Picken, Curnow are the taggers whose limited skillset means they aren't damaging with ball in hand and the opposition would gladly let them have it.

If he keeps Watson to 25 or Stanton to 15 we are halfway to winning.

He's a sacrifice, doesn't happen as much these days but when you have sides with only two or so A grade on-ballers, it can be very effective.

I can see Bell/Robbo with big frames and no fear getting first to the ball as an option, hard to stop ball winners unless you win the ball before them.

That's the problem King K, too many guy's trying to get the ball leaves us thin outside.

No point Tommy Bell fighting with Murf and Watson and Stanton for the footy at a stoppage. Better to have Murf fighting for it against Watson or Stanton while they are struggling with Curnow or Carrots.

Then Murf gives it to Juddy or Tommy or whoever.

At one point this season posters were calling hbfers and backpocket players taggers.

I reckon this could be big Levi's chance to not only shine but also make his mark on the best 22 permanently however this would probably spell the end for Hampson or Warnock ever making it back into the team - probably the latter.
