Why exactly would we want Thompson anyway?

Because if you can have as many of MM, Bomber, Roos, Matthews, Williams etc challenging for the job the better for us it is.

Would've been nice to have a choice and then gone through a proper process.

Whilst I don't believe it's true, I do know that a current head fitness/ strengthening coach at another club is being interviewed by the Bombers to take over next season.

The Weapon may well be the fallout from all the injuries they've suffered this year.

Claiming the info came from a close friend who is very influential at Carlton.

I find the whole thing very hard to believe...

...especially the part about Crackers having a close friend..

Swan McKay ?

Old mates from 3LO?

Is McKay still influential? Haven't heard anything of him since the "Carlton One" days.

Intersting considering that their former fitness guy Stuart Cormack was removed (apparently by Thompson) for him midyear in 2011.

'The Wep' then came in obviously from Thompson's recommendation after having spent 3 years with him at Geelong, so you'd think this would have to be causing some friction.

Simon O'Donnell was absolutely adamant on 9's Footy Show last Sunday that Ratts would NOT be at Carlton next year.

Crackers is Asst. Coach under Gary Ayres at Port Melbourne in the VFL.

So many ''experts'' in the know............ ..... :garthp:

Crackers Keenan wouldn't know if his arse was on fire.

That doesn't mean he couldn't fluke one though.

Scott???

Id look at either Scott bro as a coach....
Good coaches in my opinion.

Thompson... lucky coach and as harsh at it sounds was an underachiever with what he had ...

I'd have Ratts in a heartbeat next year if the choice was between he and Thompson. No thanks.

I tend to agree.

Not sure that he underachieved since flags are hard to win, but I reckon just about anyone would have got three flags out of that group.

Have to disagree with you Synbad. Personally I think he is a fantastic coach. Completely different behind the scenes than the one you see on TV.

What it does show though is the importance of the right people in the key positions. Cook as CEO, Costa as President, Wells as Recruiter and Balme as Football Manager oversaw the development and vast improvement of a club that had had no success for 40 odd years to an AFL powerhouse.

No weak links in the chain.

Lessons that we could well learn from.

Roy is a more reliable source of information than Crackers.

Isn't happening, and more importantly, won't happen.
