Keeping Davies at the expense of Armfield is loony tunes to the power of infinity.

Yeah that's ridiculous. Armfield isn't a world beater but Davies has shown nowhere near enough to get a spot on the list ahead of him.

Armfield is 26 and played 77 games.

Davies is 21 and played 15 games. Give Davies the same opportunities and games and see where he stands. He certainly has more upside.

Point is he has shown something at AFL level and Davies has not regardless of age.

Why get rid of McLean? He will stay for a lot less money, he was good today and will continue to offer more next season if he gets another solid pre season under his belt.

I honestly think people want to be proven right in Brock being useless and refuse to acknowledge anything he has done well.

fwiw give Davies another year on the list before killing him off.

Army is worth keeping unless someone randomly offers us a pick higher than 40 for him.

psych. mate cmon you usually make sense...........of davies 15 games has he ever managed to keep his spot for more than a week?????????

my memory's shit at best but i cant recall him even being amongst our top 10-12 players in ANY of the games he's played- and he's had 15 chances!

IMHO Armfield does some good things but doesn't really influence games and his disposal is average especially under pressure. He is a bit part player. The question is as we develop our list is he worth keeping or is it better bringing in a kid?

It's not easy. Tough decisions need to be made.

Davies was very good at U18 and is talented and needs a chance. I believe in the last two weeks he has been crucified. He shouldnt be playing yet. He had played 1 reserves game and one thirds game in three months. Shocking selection IMO and does nothing for the kid.

As for McLean I am 50/50. Been very good lately but gets shown up badly against better sides. We will see.

The base question should always be will these players be part of the next Premiership side? and have they been given the chance to prove otherwise?

Maybe but as Im saying give him a chance. He is 21 and has had his year ruined by injury. IMO he deserves another season to show his worth. Who knows, with a new coach and an injury free run he may be worth it.

Davies has nothing on McInnes and Laidler, both who have his spot covered. Duigan the next best.

Davies still needs opportunity to prove himself. Its unfair to make a decision him one way or another based on 15 games games. His problem has always been injury early in the season and missing too much football. White is in a similar situation.

The question is whether we see enough potential in him to give him another year on the list.

Armfield is a pretty important cog in our team and has been kicking goals. His place should be unquestioned.

Talk of not retaining players because 'they're not in our next premiership team' is silly. We may not win a premiership for 20 years. Its impossible to say who's going to play.

Imagine if Sydney had delisted Paul Kelly because he wasn't going to be in their next premiership side. Nuts!

Personally I'd get rid of Curnow, AJ, McLean, Bower, Russell, Armfield, Kerr, Carter, Heyne and hopefully replace with 1-2 very good free agents, some good trades and some bloody good kids.

but keep Davies? :screwy:

Davies is a talented kid who has been rushed into senior footy with a limited preparation and virtually no footy this year. He has struggled in the last two games but he is better than that.

i need evidence. i looked very hard today but didnt see it.

fingers crossed!
