Give him a chance. IMO he will be a surprise to many. He is a good kick, smart decision maker and a one grab player.

He could well develop into the bigger bodied sized mid we need. As he develops it is obvious to me he will be better suited there than in the back half. Has an excellent "engine" and given time to develop could be a very good player if treated right.

I like his physicality and ball-use and, for both his and our sake, I hope he does develop but at the moment I think he is too error-prone. He has cost us silly goals in each of the games I have seen him play.

I see Davies more as a flanker currently, but he certainly could become a mid. He is tough and he is quick.
He has only played 14 games. Give him a chance.

HaHa.

This is the whole point. A lot of people in here label players or place them in one box.

Davies played most of his junior footy as a very attacking CHB. During the U18 Nationals he also pushed up the field a lot and played as an extra mid.

At his size if he is to play as a defender it is probably as a third tall. It was his size that saw him fall through to us even though he had a good year.

He has all the attributes to be a very good mid. He is athletic and has great running ability. He wins the ball and is good under pressure. He is also hard at it. Played very well on a wing in last years finals.

Don't judge him on last week, he was underdone. Give the kid time IMO he will be worth it.

FFS

It's fine to have a different opinion but WHY?

Explain why, can't he run, kick, is he soft, what?

I dont see any attributes that davies has at this stage to suggest he will become a midfielder in what were hoping is a top 4 side! The signs so far arent great eg running into an open goal v saints round 22 last year after a sensational betts tap on and missing by blazing away under no pressure at all, giving away stupid free kicks in important finals, fumbling etc. Lets hope he turns into a solid back pocket!

How good was Kade Simpson after 5, 10 or 15 games?

Adam Goodes started as a back pocket. There ate a million examples. Only time will tell.

I agree with doof, certainly hasn't shown composure and nous to play through the middle. Just makes too many mistakes. Still haven't forgiven him for that Darling free-kick in a 3 point loss!

And that is Carlton's whole problem - if Davies has been envisaged for the long term as a midfielder has he even played this role at any stage for the Northern Blues/Bullants.

Yep. Onya LB>
Bozzos...that's being nice.
I wish Doull had've played 400

Davies does have pace.
Where he's been criticised is for getting in trouble at the pointy end. Ouch.
He's been peripheral for me, but I reckon its possible he can make it as a midfielder.
Just because he wasn't picked for that position doesn't mean we pigeon hole him.
I like Psych's thinking there.

Loved Davies' left foot inward pass in the last to set up a forward thrust. And I'm pretty sure he was the defender that punched the ball 30 m over the boundary line in Deledios last ditch attempt. It only won us the game I suppose.
