Like to see that as well. Yarran has the ability, no doubt, does he have the work rate?

This week will tell us a lot about a number of players.

Yarran doesn't have the effort required when the ball is going the other way.

I think you are on the money with the final changes, I could not imagine Mc Lean being left out of the side, Lucas still needs to prove that he really wants to play senior footy (IMO)and would only play if Simmo dosen't come up for some reason, Ellard is a little stiff but apart from Joesph who had a good game last week, who would he be replacing?

If the coaches and playing group got in Yarran's ear this week, I think it would make a world of difference and he could easily cut Jetta's influence and get involved going forward. It seems to be a confidence thing with him.

1. We need to see Davies, Casboult, McInnes, Collins, Watson, White, Lucas, Bell etc play games! Not one, not two but more and more. Don't judge kids on one or two games, it takes some time. Just let them play.

2. The other issue I have is the comments by Ratten saying we will get Walker, Simpson, Robinson, Waite etc. back. In theory that is great but IMO why make major changes to a winning side? Let them earn their spots back. That is a great culture to have.
We always used to have a rule that if a player missed 4 or more weeks they had to play in the 2's. It was for everybody.

3. If you were Casboult and has played in two winning games and shown some ability how would you feel being dropped for Walker who has been injured for over a month?

4. Ask Lucas how he felt turing up to the MCG last week only to be told he was out for Duigan? Not a good way to treat a kid.

1. That's all fine saying that and I'm fine with it as long as the guys have the fitness levels to see the games through.
e.g. I can see Casboult running out of steam sooner than Bell will, given his base and the games he has had.
There is little point playing a player that your fitness staff don't think will see the game out. Management again is the key. Geelong for example are currently doing this well.

2. Again, if your best players have been given the time to get fully fit, why would you keep them out. We didn't with Carrazzo and Murphy, nor will we put Judd through a week at a lower level.

3. Casboult should be pleased to have been given games as should Watson.

4. Lucas would be livid. Most of us would be under the same circumstances and I'm not sure that was a great move by us, irrespective of the end result.

That is right Harker. We have to be pro active with the new guys. If they are starting to show small signs of fading we need to get them out before they play a stinker and lose confidence. The Pies always do this with thier new players and they seem to get good results.

I thought Casboult struggled with the pace of the game last week.
Andy Mcinnes also looked mentally exhausted after a big month.
It will be interesting to see how both go Sunday if played.

Its all about development with them.

I see Ellard in our best 22. IMO he is better value than Curnow & Joseph.

I don't know how people can say Lucas "needs to prove he really wants to play senior footy". Should of seen him when he was told he was out last week. The kid wants it badly but when you are in and out of the side and playing foreign roles when you are in its hard.

The last two weeks, although good for effort, don't tell me a lot about the playing group. This week is different, playing a top side that is disciplined, well drilled and hungry will show us a lot about our players.

Personally, I am looking forward to this one. I want to see our kids really stand up when needed.

Exactly and each is different.

McInnes is mentally strong enough to keep going and the more he does the better he will get. Here is a great chance to get 10 games into him before the season is over.

Casboult has looked slow at times. That is typical of big kids coming in, it takes them time to adjust. How is going back to the reserves going to help that? He's just starting to get some match fitness into him. He's played three games all year. Him being up there has helped our structure enormously. Having him there will also take pressure off Waite and give Eddie some space.

Army to run with Jetta. Take away their outside weapon and we are a slightly better chance.

I would prefer Army to play another defensive forward role on Shaw, he plays very similar to his brother and sets up a Lot of their attacks from half back, and Army has shown that if he isn't respected and played on he can do damage in the forward line.

How about Garlett on Jetta?

FINALLY played up the field last week. Running with Jetta would show him what it takes.

The Garlett on Jetta match up may have merit, he certainly will have the pace to go with him, I just wonder if his defensive game would be good enough.

I agree that it would have been heart breaking for the kid, but I think that the change was made purely on hardness and second efforts, I just get the impression that Kane could be suspect when a game is physical and that may be OK when we have the hardness to cover him and just allow him to run but at the moment where everyone needs to be that little bit harder, he may be found wanting.

Good call on Ellard, it is definitely a toss up between the three of them, Joseph did a good shut down job last week, Curnow went OK, but I wouldn't be unhappy either way and I do think Ellard would be stiff to miss out.

I dont quite understand why would Casboult look like he is running out of steam? He had a great pre season then missed a couple of months with a knee. He has now had 3 games back. He should actually be feeling fresh and getting better with games under his belt.

This.

The guy came into the team a few weeks ago with bugger all preparation, too. I reckon he must have a decent tank, big Levi, leave him in if form permits.

I'm quite positive about this game. If the blues bring not necessarily their A game but a balls and all approach with a similar (98 tackle) count to last week, I think we are in with a real shot.

Blues by 14 points.

We will struggle because their mids are so good. A break even there would be good and from there we are in with a chance.

Blues to crack them open in the second quarter kicking to the Heatley stand end.

Logic would suggest that this will be a comfortable win for the swannies given our very poor record against organised teams....

Maybe they will be more Collingwood type organised than Hawthorn type organised.

Fingers crossed.
