Ellard gets traded to...lets say Freo for pick 40.

With that spot, we probably elevate Curnow instead. All we've ended up doing is traded Ellard for a player already on our list, and upgraded pick 80 something to pick 40 which we may pass on anyway.

Don't see the point.

I doubt we'd be passing on a pick 40.

Unlikely, but not out of the question (i.e. if we received compo picks for Russell/Thornton, and we had an eye to someone in the PSD)

Really? All the experts seem to think it is a very strong draft.

It's strong for the first 12 or so picks, then it drops off quite dramatically. Or so my mate tells me.

I hope wthe club continues to appreciate the talent that exists beyond the draft...VFL. SAFL, WAFL...even country leagues...Tony Southcombe's son....we need the net to be cast as wide and far as possible....Get Cazz to Melville Island if we haven't got scouts out there.

It's not all about the draft....but I doubt that the talent ends after pick 12. Maybe there's 12 elite players this year. It is not all about the elite players otherwise no one would be drafting beyond round 1 of the draft in any year.

All this enthusiasm for Cloke. What did he produce in last year's GF after Harry Taylor went on to him in the 2nd quarter?

We want players who can perform in the GF. Anything less is not acceptable.

Cloke actually cut up Harry Taylor. It was when Lonergan was moved onto him that he disappeared.

We should get radical and draft entirely forward pockets.

Change the direction this club is headed in.

boys, just a question for you,
would you like to see the club,
delist, bower, russell and thornton to make room for cloke?
or if the club had to make room, who would you delist?

i reckon lucas will ask for a trade back home, cant blame him.
if our season is over after the weekend, i would like to see,
mccarthy, kerr, o'keefe and get a run and, see if they can offer something.

I think Bower, T-bird and Russell will be gone regardless, but I don't want Cloke. He is not worth $1M per year, and certainly not worth 5 years.

Even if we lose this week, our season isn't over.

Kerr will be gone anyway.

would you take cloke foe 800k and 4 years?
he is only 25.
north have the bulldogs this week and will go two games clear of us and, there percentage is worth a game also.
hate to say but i think our season is over.

North are certainties.
Bombers will probably miss, and/or possibly Geelong.

800k/4 years is still probably overs. That would be the absolute maximum.

Why would he sign for us for 800k over 4 years, when Melb are offering a mill over 6, and Freo/Dogs around a mill a season also?
