The HUGE positive for last night for me was the MC FINALLY getting the balance right.

These days it is about contested ball, run, ball use and pressure. All caused by midfielders/running players. The ability to rotate these through the midfield is absolutely vital.

IMO this side could really challenge:

B: Armfield Jamison Laidler
HB: Yarran Watson Bootsma

C: Lucas Carrazzo Simpson
Foll: Kruezer Judd Murphy

HF: Robinson Henderson Walker
F: Betts Casboult Waite

Int: Duigan Lucas Touhy Collins

Plus Mitchell Buckley Dale McInness Ellard Garlett Hampson McCarthy OKeefe Davies

At the end of the season put the Three Ruckman on the market and see what is offered. If we get a great offer for one or maybe two of them take it.
Recruit a rookie ruckman as a back up.

If we could add a Boak or a GWS young mid to the side plus some more talented kids we all of a sudden look very dangerous.

I am hoping McKay, Swann etc have something in mind to improve this list.

Would like to see a side along these lines round 1 next year. I'm a bit over waiting for Hampson learning how to mark. Levi knows how to clunk the ball, hopefully he can continue to impress over the next 6 weeks and that great strength will more than make up for his other deficiencies. I think Collins has got the tools and just needs the continuity to find himself at this level. He's showing very positive signs of consistent improvement so far.

I admire Duigan's effort and his performance against Collingwood was truly miraculous but I think he lacks the necessary polish to take us where we need to get to. Hopefully he spends most of his time in the VFL next year (insofar as other players have stepped up, nothing personal)

Depressing, but we can only pick from what's available.....amazing they carved up a victory with the Robinson missing as well.

That's not a bloody good side. It reads like something you threw together in 30 seconds with minimal thought. Besides having Lucas on the interchange and half back and Ellard in the backline and listed as close there's mutiple other problems.

McCarthy has a long, long way to go before he could be considered in our best 22. He's barely depth at the moment.
Carrazzo is better than Gibbs in midfield both offensively and defensively and should be starting alongside Judd and Murphy
No way Bootsma deserves a spot on the wing over Simpson.
That side lacks run and creativity off half back. Is Scotland meant to be in Lucas' spot? Tuohy in Ellard's?
Our 2nd best goalkicker over the past 3 years isn't even in the side.

Round 1, 2013

Laidler Jamison Yarran

Duigan Watson XXX

Simpson Gibbs Lucas

Walker Henderson Garlett

Betts Waite Kruezer

Warnock
Judd
Murphy

Robinson, Carrazo, McInness, Collins

HBF - Goddard

Watson has become a real player and will continue to develop, will be better with Laidler back in the team.

This will release Henderson to the forward line.

Need to get Goddard and replace Scotland, who is at the end now
