Harker, can you elaborate on what changes you believe will be made other than the obvious one? I'm interested in what the club believe has lead or contributed to our relative failure this year.

Don't worry yourself too much Bluegirl.

We couldn't do much about our injuries this year, but there were areas where we could have administered things better.
They've been recognized and there are steps afoot to remedy these issues.
Indications are that there will be changes at years end with a finger on the trigger to make them happen earlier, should the situation warrant.

I'm not even concerned about this year any more and only wish for us to rest the players that need it and to play the kids that have a future.
In fact I'm somewhat more excited for the rest of this year than I have been at any point in time through the year.

It will start coming out soon enough as the frenzy is about to hit.
Things are in place for changes now and all that needs to be done is to flick the switch. Will we or won't we is the only question?

I don't count Waite in our best 22 anymore. Nearly 30, a bad back and injury prone.

Even when he plays he inconsistent .

I'm afraid his times nearly passed. If we can get some good footy out of him it's a bonus but we need to look elsewhere for key forwards.

Use him as the floating backman ala Fletcher. Never gets hurt, never gets bashed and crashed. He has played it before and would be a good foil for Watson next to him. Hendo, when fit goes permanently to CHF and there is something decent.

Best creative idea I've heard in a long time. Waite has been in the game long enough to have the smarts ... could be a real winner.

He might be able to play until he's 37 too.

Finally get some return from him

except when Waitey goes for those big sliding stretches,
he won't just snap back in to shape again.

Why do people talk about Waite as though he is a best 22 player?

The stats show he barely figures for more than half a season every year, having played 43 out of 86 games from 2009 until now.

The club needs to move on and build the forward line around someone more durable and more disciplined.

Stop pinning our hopes on someone who isn't out on the park often enough!

Most over-priced contract ever given at this Club ? Disgraceful to give him 3 years - shows how desperate we are for any key possie players, even if they rarely get on the park :screwy:

Nah biggest waste of a contract and a spot was Mick Mcguane or was it Peter Mckenna, maybe Frank Marchesani, no wait ..........................

Anyone know where Kerr is at? We kept him on the list and booted Setanta, who clearly wd have been handy at the mo. If Kerr can't get a gig when Garlett can't get near it, but is continually rewarded for bad form with games. Hendo injured after one game , how predictable. Great to see Levi and Bell get a gig but will be very tough, Esp for Levi. Maybe we could come up with a radical plan, maybe no ruck man but an extra mobile player to exploit Minson on the ground....hang on, Ratts is coach, no chance of any imagination, be no stats to support anything radical. Lucky we just signed a third first ruck for another 3 years on the back of 35 games over4 years at $400k a year....hang on, he got himself suspended after being dropped to the 2s, so when we need him, he's in the stands. We are a train wreck. We had a great chance to build a side from the draft and we have blown it. It is so infuriating to see us back at rebuild stage, and when I hear talk of who we are going to get from other clubs I shudder, another overpaid underperformer who we swap high draft picks for. Look at north, the list is all their draft picks, no swaps. Why couldn't we do that, what has happened to JR, Bower, Lucas, why are players going backwards, why have we got so little out of picks from late first to 3rd round. We are headed to our longest ever flag drought. I think it stands atv23 years. It is so depressing. 18 years next yr and no hope till we rebuild.

I should restrain.... Got to restrain..... Cant get sucked into this again...... Damn it...

1) "We kept him on the list and booted Setanta": How is he travelling? Where does a person 8 yrs into the system with still no understanding of the game fit into a premiership team? Would he get a game at CW? He would be laughed out of vic park.
2) "Hendo injured after one game , how predictable": If it was predicted for him to be injured after 1 game that is a huge legal issue that (if you have been near any doctor in the last 5 yrs) Docs wont be within 10 mile of. You are talking about docs names, reps and dollars on the line - for one game?? And the thought from another poster that Ratts would over rule a docs recommendation?
3) "Ratts is coach, no chance of any imagination": - Duigan V Collingwood - was that someone else's move?
4) "no stats to support anything radical": See above
5) "Lucky we just signed a third first ruck"... Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn would like 1 let alone 3.6) So 2 injured ruckmen is not a key we need a third always as back up?
7) "We had a great chance to build a side from the draft and we have blown it": yeah Marc Murphy has had half the stats of last year. Judd was a waste of Kennedy.
8) "It is so infuriating to see us back at rebuild stage": Let me ask you something - back at round 3 with a basically full list - were you saying we should rebuild?
9) Look at north, the list is all their draft picks, no swaps: Correct me if wrong but just about at full strength? How did they do early in season? How would full strength NM go against full strength Carlton in a final nuts on the line?
9) "We are headed to our longest ever flag drought": Keep the faith man, keep the faith

That was a good move. Now it's just a matter of working out which one to trade. We should be able to get something of value.

Brock does not deserve that Hoolio.

i think the side has needed his grunt, and has definitely benefited from his inclusion this year. :-)

Sounds promising and in reality to only possible outcome from a disastrous performance and the realisation that those currently in charge are not up to it

Jeez, this thread is a good read.

I think we'll win and Levi will take a few marks up front to show us what is in store.
I heard Parko talking about Bell last week and so don't be surprised is the skittles a few in his eagerness to win first up.
It's all about the midfield. We shouldn't win the hit outs so the mids should just rove to the Dogs' boys.

Garlett to kick a bag and Yarran to have a great clash with Dalhaus.

This game could go one of two ways for me.

Option A. We either come out hard and hungry and put them away in a cohesive team effort.

Or.

Option B. Both sides set the game of Australian Rules back 15 years with missed assignments, missed targets, dropped ball with the game descending into a game of forths and backs.

If I were a bookie, I'd be paying Option B at $1.01 ...

Actually looking forward to this game. Its always exciting when new kids get a go. We may lose but at least finally we get to see Levi play in the Firsts whether he has earned it or not.

This could be quite an entertaining match. With nothing to lose, both sides may be instructed to throw caution to the wind and go for all out attack. Who'll win? Buggered if I know, provided we have a fair dinkum dip and don't get any more injuries I don't really care that much.

Have a feeling the doggies will clean us up, personally.

Just going to watch how some of the younger guys go. Particularly Casboult who I am a fan of.

Looking at our team we have only Bell, Casboult, McIness, Watson and Collins as the inexperienced players.
All the rest have been or are senior or semi senior experienced players.
I know 5 players are a few too many to play together in one team but when you look at the dogs they aren't much better.
I think our experienced players are evenly matched by theirs as are the youngsters.

With all the negativity I'd rather be a Blues supporter than a bulldogs one as far as the future goes.
There's a lot more up side when you count all the injuries we've had.

Can anyone tell me if Kreuzer is just missing a week or whether it will be a longer absence?

We are very lucky to be playing the dogs. A lot of mature senior players in this side and if we cannot beat the dogs then we have a lot of mature senior players clogging up our list.

One big positive with our injuries and suspensions is, we get to answer this all important question coming down the stretch.

It's like a car crash, where you're in slow motion, and there's no getting out of it.
You regret that silly ,preventable thing you did, but it's all too late now.

How great it would be if the boys go out on a mission(hehheh) and guacamole those doggies.
It would taco a big effort from every player.

slinks away...
