Why do people talk about Waite as though he is a best 22 player?

The stats show he barely figures for more than half a season every year, having played 43 out of 86 games from 2009 until now.

The club needs to move on and build the forward line around someone more durable and more disciplined.

Stop pinning our hopes on someone who isn't out on the park often enough!

Because he is our only 'decent' key position forward - and is actually a star, when playing i agree.

Fact of matter is he is in our best 22, EASILY.

Seriously ridiculous situation.

I guess he got himself into that position with a hit at siren time....I didn't see it so I can't say it was stupid on his behalf...but FFS AFL....I really am getting close to giving up this game...not the club...but my addiction to AFL is not as strong as it was a few weeks back (pre Simpson injury, pre Judd AFL hanging, @#$%&! it all.....)

We'll win this despite 10 of our best 22 out...Lucas makes it 11 if you consider him in your best 22.

Reserves team.

We'll win unless the Bullies get a sniff of confidence against a reserves team.

Sick of this season, but glad to see Casboult and Bell have a game at senior level.

Bulldogs will recognise they are playing the northern blues and will know they are odds on to win against that line up. Not that we are going that well with the outs playing mind you.

Enjoy the win sedat.

He is not a star when he's out there - never has been...he has a couple of good games but never strings a good season together.

He is injured that often that it flowers up our side completely - why would a club try and build a team around someone who has consistently shown they are unable to get on the park!

It would have made more sense to continue to develop Henderson as the main banana up forward instead of flakey Waite. There could actually be some continuity in the team instead of Henderson having to move back and forward back and forward.

Actually, looking at that, given Bower's in, Watson may actually play forward. I hope not. Rather have Watson and Bower in defence, given the Dogs don't have real KP forwards any, and Jamison at CHF. Jammo can do less damage to us up forward the way he is going, and you never know, it might do him good. At least he's a target.

I think Watson w play FF rotating w Casboult. Thornton as the lead up CHF.

Bower and Jamison will take Williams & Cordy. Duigan on Jones.

AJ still has to pass a fitness test.

Agree Rooboy. Could be an AA. Should be in many people's thoughts if.....

Having said that Synbad and Rhino mentioned something about Waite falling to the ground so much so he's not available for 2nd efforts. I had a bit of a go at that....and then I had a look at a few games over the last 3 years...and yes there's a bit of a habit, or should I say trait...but he's a damn good footballer when he's on sond...best 22 when fit and available and committed.

I still love the big fella...and expect him to play in a flag for us if.........

I expected the same from Houla and Stevens as interchange players if..............only.......

Waite may as well get injured in the seniors, as in the 2's.
At lest he'd give a bit before going out again for 2-6weeks.

I think you're righ Psych.

I think its time to put Psych's team on the field...and that means one O'Keefe to start with.

If Russell, bower and Thornton give a crap we COULD win this game, but unfortunately I reckon they know they are out so won't even break a sweat. To rub the salt in the wound the bulldogs put in Austin, and he will be pumped....

I don't count Waite in our best 22 anymore. Nearly 30, a bad back and injury prone.

Even when he plays he inconsistent .

I'm afraid his times nearly passed. If we can get some good footy out of him it's a bonus but we need to look elsewhere for key forwards.

Good point you make Drewgirl.

I like Austin and wish him luck, and I hope you're wrong, because if we lose this one, we will be the laughing stock of the VFL too.

True but is there a benefit to us winning this weekend?

Yes I don't want to go back to the olden days when I wanted to lose for draft picks. Ridiculous and bloody oath I want us to win. We need winning culture for the players..... For my sanity as well.

Agree we shouldn't rest our hopes on building a team around Waite - but even if he isn't our 'pea per say' he is a dangerous winger, a dangerous 2nd or 3rd tall target (heck he has been bloody good as the pea he just isn't durable). He might become the best 'swingman in the comp' defence / forward. What ever way you think he should be played - he is our best forward at the moment and easily in our best 22 and was vital for any team success we hoped to have this season.

Seriously don't know what to think.

Playing some kids, great, but will it do them any good given how we are going.

Are they drilled at reserves level to be able to stand up?

Big call for Casboult to be No.1 ruck in first game. Only plays second ruck in reserves.

Why isn't Ellard playing?

If we lose is Ratten right to blame injuries? There still is some good talent in the side.

If we win what's the benefit.

Really conflicted. :donk:

If you look at Waite's performances he's not as inconsistent as people say. They just get confused with his injury/suspension record and think he's inconsistent.

When playing, he's actually been a very consistent contributor since 2007.

As much as I want to win, cant see it happening when we re fielding one of the weakest CFC sides since the Dark Lord's years of 2003-2007...
What i find even sadder in the long run, is that our continuous injuries will probably result in Sticks giving his mate Ratts the benefit of the doubt at the end of the year...

We need to chuck our best players in the square. Ie murph, Gibbs, Scotland, Carrazzo, Robinson to shark the taps from either ruck man..
