I'm sure he'd have accomplished plenty in a less dysfunctional organisation.

This is how it appears. You get the impression that if MM is not there in 2013, he won't be either. He must just laugh at us when he compares the way things were run at the filth to us.

Actually hes been exposed as being a very ordinary CEO... He looked good in a good organisation ....

And this guy never seems to put his name out there when there is bad news.

I don't get AFL CEO's generally. Take a publicly listed company as an example, the CEO is normally the public figure, the Chairman of the board not so much. At AFL level it seems to be the opposite, the President's (perhaps with their big ego's) seem to hog the limelight.

He'd be on about 100k a year, I reckon. You don't earn 100k a year if you're "special"..

Apart from Brian Cook. Geelong made him part of the executive - actually they made him a Director - we made Ian Coutts part of our executive. Corporate Governance changes and part of the skill is having someone at the helm who either understands the change, or can get people around them to understand it or you can pay a consultant to implement it...either way - we currently have a system isn't working as effectively as it could or should. The bigger problem is that we have a board and executive who thinks it works. That's the trouble...living in a bubble...

...if this is getting to 'Yes, Minister' for you, I'll stop - but suffice to say, the Geelong model works - in part because of the people and in part because of the governance structure.

I haven't heard the rumors of Swann moving on. I think his contract expires in March 2014...I might be wrong. As far as I know, he's staying...but given there are changes afoot that may impact his role - it wouldn't surprise me if he moved on. He's on pretty good coin at Carlton though.

He's on a fair bit more than that. I don't know any CEO's on $100k a year.

That's preposterous. You either earn over 100k a year, or you don't. Nothing else in between. Especially if you post on a football forum!

Id say Swann has one job at the moment and its best he is kept away from the media while he does it.

Sticks will do the media and say " i have never spoken to xxxxxx in my life. Ratts is the man."

Apparently Gerard Healy on radio tonight said that Swann is leaving to work for Price Waterhouse at the end of this year.

Apart from the Judd deal, he has got this club back on track after it was a shambles financially after the Elliot reign.

I guess you forget Smorgan, when he was interviewed by the footy show stating the club was broke and we had to ask the AFL for a loan. Even Joffa wore a Blues jumper back then. Swanny come in and cleaned up the !@#@!

Please tell me your joking. :banghead:

Greg Swan was just on SEN with KB, summary of what was said;
Pleased with kids, positive of having so many injuries.
1st game next year against Richmond will only be played at MCG, talking with cricket and vic government to see if something can be done, otherwise we may have to play round 2/3.
Cloke, every club thinks he will stay at Collingwood.
Collins form good, now injury free. Club didnt want to lose Grigg.
McLean having a good run after alot of injuries.
Internally the club going okay after media scrutiny.
Lucas, Kreuzer, Warnock and Touhy could be back this week.
Will be a review but there is every year.
Ticket sales for this week on par with round 1 so expecting a big crowd.

I sent in a txt asking about the rumour of him leaving but KB didnt ask him.
