Players who have gone backwards from last season:

Walker **injured pre-season
Russell **still carrying injury?
Gibbs
Judd **injured pre-season
Kruezer (playing injured)
Warnock **injured pre-season
Yarran (playing injured)
Thornton
Jamison **injured pre-season
Garlett

You can say that the players above have performed well below their best. Throw in the long term injuries to Murphy, Carazzo, Waite and Laidler and you have a disaster on your hands. The problem has been not the injuries but the non-performing players taking the field every week.

It may be a case that the coaching staff has lost the dressing room.

Injuries may run a little deaper than just those 4 mentioned. Delayed/interrupted pre-seasons may have proven to have had more affect than taken into account. Perhaps Ratt's is right to have issue with the fitness staff, we've had ordinary run.
Having said that, Gibbs and Garlett have definately gone backwards. Problem is the resolve of the players, the senior players need to stand up and take the team with them. No one has any on-field leadership.

This is just a warning shot across the bows from Mathieson. Now he will wait for a considered response from the Board, not Kernahan's anodyne comments.

If the Board comes back with something he considers unacceptable, then the fun will start. Can't wait for the AGM in December or, more likely, the EGM before then.

The AGM in December will be far too late - as that will be after the Trading Period, all the Drafts and probably most of the pre-season Christmas Training Workload.

We need an EGM immediately after the last round of the Home and Away season (if not sooner).

It depends if we keep losing or not.

If we start to string a few wins together, that will give Sticks breathing space.
He can do a Mini review / paper over the cracks.

Mathieson says our recruiting sucks?
Edelsten agrees we have recruits who don't perform at AFL level?

Oh well that's easy for Sticks - demote Hughes. Already done! Sticks = one move ahead.

Edelsten & others back Ratts, vague blame placed on players, past trades, the footy department in general.
That's easy for Sticks too! Sack Icke - already done!
Sticks on the ball again!

The only way anything will seriously change is if we keep losing & the players give up.
So sadly Ratts' chance of leading us to a flag look grim at the moment - odds are against him

I think there will be a review but not the well-publicised one Geelong had, even though one similar would be beneficial to everyone. It's a tough time for everyone and the coach is feeling it too. Sadly I think he'll go and will probably go before the end of the year if things keep on pumelling. And I think he understands that more than anyone.

It breaks my heart with all this happening but maybe it's necessary for the good of the club to look within itself to see where it's gone wrong.

I like Brett Ratten; i can't help but like him. But I understand he may not be the man for the job.

Sticks and Ratts: Nice guys, club champions, captains, premiership players - just not capable of doing the job we require them to do now.

Is Ratts actually trying to look like a monkey in that pic?

Poor Ratts looks scared in that photo. Tough gig coaching.
Chin up Ratts - I still reckon you can coach.

I've heard from a source that Mitchell has been asked approached numerous times to be president but he doesn't want it.

Now don't attack me, I'm not the one to post rumours or overheard conversations.

So at round 16 we are 12th. With a losing record and highly likely to not make finals.

In a season that is wide open and we ourselves expected to be challenging for the flag.

People can mitigate all they like but that is clearly unacceptable.

If the club is truly serious about becoming a modern day power club, on and off the field, then an independent review is required of the entire club. Top to bottom. No area spared.

It is incumbent on the decision makers at the club to have a full understanding of the reasons why we are in the position that we are. No matter how brutal that may be. Make the appropriate changes from there.

I'd be greatly disappointed if this process was not well underway.

To gloss over our issues and attribute them to injuries or fitness would be amateur hour at its finest. As would making a move on ratts without addressing our other issues.

I'm devastated that a season that promised so much is literally the season from hell. Simply, significant action is required to address this.

I will watch intently what the club do about our current predicament.

Im not guessing.

The type of review were hoping for wont be had.

Mathieson went on record to illustrate he doesnt agree with these guys refusal to have one.

But Adrian will be dusting off his clipboard again....

I posted this in MM thread. I heard this today;

Very mixed messages emanating from club at present

"A wide ranging review will occur, but must acknowledge injuries, not an excuse but it is a reason. Tough decisions need to be made, all calm within club as we are professionals. Judd very frustrated BUT apparently his frustration is with opposition taggers!!!!.

Loss to Kangas bad, BUT injuries to Walker, Toughy & Joseph cruelled us."

Some Directors are buying this sh!t!!!!!

Recruitment & conditioning being excused to a degree due to injuries.

Nonetheless club still saying tough decisions will be made!

Ratts will get 6 of the best (for those who are young i.e. 3 straps on the right hand & 3 straps on the left hand)
