Geelong did what they did.

We have achieved nothing.

And give up a full year's salary?

They can come to an 'agreement' that saves face for both player and coach. He could resign and take his payout of $XX and let us get on with finding a coach and working a list for 2013.

No point waiting til October when the players are OS. A new coach will need to see the players that aren't being played to determine who to keep and who to trade.

Fair enough. Though sends us further into debt (unless next year's membership skyrockets due to new coach appointment).

Seriously, If there are no changes at the club and everything is left as is for 2013,

whose going to want to buy a membership anyway ?

The year was shot after the Adelaide game, it was pretty obvious to all of us. We just didn't want to believe it and that is fair enough. It's now time to change tack and develop something different. There is now 7 games for the Carlton Football club to commence the process of renewal. That will possibly mean giving a few young players some game time and look at what we have got on our list. This will also mean replacing our coach at the end of this year as he is not the answer. Should also mean a proper review of our club and hopefully implement some change which will hold us in good stead going forward. I still believe there is talent on our list which has stagnated badly this year. Hopefully, we can pick up some decent players in the draft (apparently it's a super draft), who may help us bridge the gap at the bottom end of our list.

I've said this previously, but we will go nowhere with players like Mclean and Curnow running in our midfield. Look at the way North have bitten the bullet and relied on its younger running brigade to give themselves the best chance to win a premiership. I reckon they are on the right track. I love the way Brad Scott has not changed direction and stuck to his guns in developing a team that can go all the way. We have relied on individual brilliance to win games. This will never win you a premiership. Malthouse was right when he said we have relied too heavily on Judd ala Buckley at Collingwood. Could you imagine if Judd never came to Carlton. We would have been in dire straits with Ratten in charge.

Also, the lack of a key focal point up forward is beyond a joke now. We kept believing Waite when he eventually plays will solve our problems. Three years in (since Fevola left) and we are still waiting. Put Henderson up forward and leave him there. If our backline suffers so be it. Need to look beyond this year now.

This sounds like a corny clique, but this year is probably the year we had to have. It hurts but you have to remain positive and believe some good will come out of all this.

We don't have a younger running brigade....

Poor recruitment, giving away draft pick for dud players trying to top up it just does not work that way . Check out team that have one the big one 95% of ther teams have all come from kids that were drafted to that club . giving game time so they can develope our club does not play our kids enough.

This is rubbish. Collingwood didn't go out and recruit Jolly or Ball, did they. Yep.
Hawthorn didn't go and get Dew or Gibson,or any of the other players they traded.
Geelong didn't go and get Ottens.
Sydney got Hall and more recently, Mumford.

All teams who think they are close will trade for specific players.

I'm not saying we shouldn't go to the draft but I am saying that we aren't the only ones and that the list of recent winner does have traded players.

Except these clubs got players who can play....

Predictable result, lost by not selecting Thornton and/or Bower and then moving Henderson back was the straw that broke the camels back! Amazing coaching - sorry Ratts but that was pathetic.

You need to give yourself a chance to win a game. I'll repeat it one more time - top sides have atleast 2 KP players forward of the centre every week. We could have played Thornton & Henderson and given ourselves a little chance!

You rate this guy as a coach.....

.. and yet.... you Surrey have just put together a structure....

The structure thats so impossible to touch... and yet there is one.

Hey ...... i knew this would happen when Setanta got moved on.... he didnt rate the Irishman cos he didnt play like Carey....

He kept White and Davies

Were talking about the dumbest coach in the AFL.....

Kept Bower and Thornton, has no faith in either...

Imagine bringing in Guus and allowing him a month to understand footy.

He would revolutionise football.

such a basic game... and Ratts cant understand it....

:screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

Synbad please get off your Ratten bashing for once and have a look at the game for what it was, there was absolutely nothing he could do with the personnel he had available once the ball was bounced.

We went in short in both defence and forward, once we lost Touhey and Walker that compounded the situation, surely you can see that, please enlighten me with the moves that could have been made that could have stopped Petrie and who we could have used as a genuine forward option, can you also tell me how we could cover the loss of Walker and Joseph prior to half time and still be able to keep our run up, please just give me a reasonable and logical analys of what could be done from the box to rescue the situation, just for something different, rather than pushing your dislikes.

I think as many others have said, Ratts isn't entirely to blame, but is far from blameless, he is one of the factors of why we are where we are.

In my view in order our problems are:

1. Sticks/the board
2. List Management/recruiting
3. Ratts (which ties into number 2 as surely he would have big say)

I know things went wrong with injuries last night, but Ratts even thinking we could replicate our setup of last week with no KP forwards was stupidity of the highest order.

Ratts has played a massive role in our list setup i.e. list management/trading/recruiting

But he didn`t get us there did he. Would have, could have, should have...
If this club was serious, we should have been seeking a new coach after the Swans Elimination Final loss.

Shortly afterwards we gave away the player who was BOG in that game...

Geelong have a stack of (talented) youngsters in the 18 - 22 age group...

They have a succession plan!

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the other victim in the Duigan forward/Henderson back affair seemed to be Betts.

He look electric early and was pushing up to the midfield on occasions as well as being dangerous around goals.

As soon as Henderson went forward, he was then forced to play deep in the fifty again and we lost a lot of his spark.

A lot has been said on the game, so I wont go over old ground, but you literally needed a stats man with you to keep track of who was playing forward most of the time. Henderson, Duigan, Betts, McInnes, Kreuzer, Watson and Gibbs all had a crack at playing our deepest forward. There were times when you saw players break through the middle, look up, see Betts, and then take a sideways option.

Time to devise an amicable end to Ratten coach era.

Time to target some serious talent from other clubs as well as develop our own.
We don't bat deep and need more than 3 new youngsters from the draft to achieve the 17th sooner than later.

I have no faith in Richardson Brown Riley or Ratten....broom broom time.
WTF are they thinking??? WTF are they doing in box???

Tbird kicks 5 goals last week and they bring in Lucas who did SFA in the reserves, when we are short of KP's.

Kreuzer is not a No 1 ruckman...his success comes from a ruck roving game style after the bounce....imo...he's too short for No 1.
Garlett should be dropped and replaced by anyone who has some form.
Gibbs......WTF????...is it him or is it Ratts....a bit of both imo. Needs to get his act together.
I think missing goals within 40 metres is inexcusable....Come on Murph...get it together...you're a friggin No 1 pick.
Jamo....I do not like him at all anymore...just frustrates me no end. Haven't been impreesed with him for the last 2 years. Big head. Drop him for Bower because we expect more from a leader and KPD...he'll most likely cop a suspension.

I don't think Ratts has the balls to drop players not in form.

Please end this crap now and give us supporters hope fthat there will be change in 2013 by making changes NOW!!!!
