It's all about 2015 for me. Surely, we'll have a KPF by then.
Tank. Play kids for next few years and re-build.

The problem was the ease at which Petrie could be isolated and the spots from which they had their shots on goal. Would like to see a heatmap for their marks inside 50 to ours.

It was like the pre season game against them...if we lost the ball in our forward line we wouldn't get it back until they kicked a point or it had gone back to the middle after the goal. We rarely forced them to bomb it down the line...they could just run it through by handball. Everyone knows how they play yet we appeared to have nothing in place to limit it/force turnovers.

This.

It was like we learnt nothing from the preseason game.

Let them settle!!!

I reckon every player nearly played every position on the ground last night. :banghead:

Look at North they picked a structure and stuck to it. Even when we made a run in the third they didn't change.

Ratten is about confidence and holding your nerve and sticking to said structures.

He really is a shit coach!!!... you can just see how he has no control of anything right now.

If we leave this guy any longer it wont be too much longer we will descend to this

Captain Queeg: Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action. I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers...

Kreuzer's inconsistency is a big problem. How he goes from gamewinner one week, to, if not for the fact he was completely dominated, you wouldn't know he's out there, has me beat.

Is he a number one ruckman from here out?

Do we trade him while his value is high and Warnock and Hammer are on the list?

He struggles to match up on taller ruckmen. He gets completely towelled up, if that taller ruckmen can jump, run, take an overhead mark and spoil.

The issue I have is that a lot of damage is done already. Watching it last night it was the basics of the game that really let us down. Getting back on the mark. Moving the ball on quickly, first option etc. Simple stuff.

As I have said before this is Matty Knights all over again.

I have questions over Kruezer as well but he is struggling to get up each week.

As I said earlier don't judge the players at the moment, they are completely lost and without confidence.

Personally I still think we have a very talented list!

Best thing I've read this morning.

lol ... I'm so freaking confused. I like ratts and I see the players playing for him.

I also see a team with zero confidence, zero intelligence for the game and falling down in football 101 areas. All issues which directly fall at Ratt's feet.

I think our list is not as talented as most CFC supporters want to admit.

Ratten is Dr Death when it comes to talent

You're way too harsh. No offense meant, either.

The truth lies somewhere in bewteen, as the answer to our woes.

Ratten
The list
Development & recruiting
Fitness & strength
The board

It all is playing a part. I honestly don't think replacing Ratten for Malthouse will change where we are on the ladder while the other elements are still at play.

Dermiemade the same point. How easy teams are isolating players in our forward line one on one. Goes to show the structure is all wrong.

I watched the game differently last night . Tried to watch structures etc to the best of my limited knowledge . What I did notice was

1 lack of forward targets stifled us all over the ground, creating slow play due to scared of getting out marked.

2. We are def undersized, with north playing man on man , they beat us most times. Was so frightened of what was going on pre season with the training and preparation, seems it has come true, we got too cocky within ourselves ( club, coaches, fitness staff etc ), the players were following what they were told to do.

3 strutcheres are killing our back line , they are always one out with no pressure on ball carriers

4 as Synners keeps saying, once the way we want to play is cut off, and things go wrong, the players have no idea what to do, and players like Robbo try to go harder to make up fit it, but the system is non existent.

The scary part is the endeavour & talent are there. I mean we had a real dip last night, wasn't like the Pagan losses where we'd just drop our heads & give up.

And our list is unbalanced but not rubbish.

Lack of talls didn't help (would've liked TBird in) but the main trouble is they don't know what they're doing, how to set up, how to apply total defence across the ground.

5 years is more than enough time to teach these things!!

IIRC Petrie kicked about 10 against us in the practice match at Visy Park early this year

As Spud Frawley would say "We will learn from that"

Gavin Brown should become our forward coach.
Maybe he'll be able to isolate our KP forwards the same way then.

Better plan to keep Henderson forward and hope he could match Petrie's 7 goals in 3 quarters? Henderson didn't look like kicking a goal, even from ten metres out directly in front.

When did he have a chance to have a shot from directly in front?

It doesn't matter who our tall forward is all they seem to do is lead to the pocket. :banghead:

How about that Norf player that wiped the ball on Duig's back, before he went for goal?

That's what happens when you don't have a KP forward to kick too and therefore no structure
