Carlton can wallow in misery about our position this year, blame injuries and keep doing the same things or we can change it up and be proactive. Regardless of Ratt's position for next year, he must be encouraged to be bold:
- drop underperformers (Garlett for one - he might be struggling off field but it needs to be done. AJ has been untouchable and despite being ok recently I'd prefer Davies to have a shot);
- pick a position for Gibbs that is not defence (midfield or forward) and (here's a novelty) LEAVE HIM THERE!
- work on structure (we NEED two tall forwards - keep Hendo forward no matter what and promote one of Mitchell or Levi - ready or not - to prepare the structures we need. Also get McCarthy into defence to cover Hendo.
- send the sore ones to the Dr (Jamo looks like he needs surgery, Mitch has the broken hand, Kruez is not 100% - play ONLY guys who are 100%)
- inform the guys who are cooked and give them a sendoff (Thornton, Russell and Bower have been good footsoldiers - if we are to cut them, don't send them out in a bitter fashion);
- work with young guys with a possible future (Lucas must stay in, decide whether Kerr has it or not, blood Buckley and Dale - let's look at what we have).
Don't make this year for nothing. I do NOT want to tank. I want to build depth and redevelop a game plan. Too many players on our list have not played senior footy. We need to change this (for the ones we want to keep) so that we develop depth. Whether Ratts is to be present next year or not, it needs to be done.

This thread needs to be had. I completely agree that 2013 starts from now. I know mathematically we may still make the eight, but seriously what is the point? Every decision from this point on is for 2013. If an effect of that is making finals this year, then that is a bonus.

Won't happen whilst finals are a chance. Ratts has stated this in the media conference last night.

 well put.

plus, throw Touhy into the midfield

plus, bite the bullet.....it may need a new coach to be so adventurous!

The problem is, there is not much coming through the 'twos' as it is; even if there was, the players they bring in won't perform to any degree that will bring us hope.

No matter what we may or may not learn from the rest of the season, we'll still pin our hopes on trying to nail down our biggest 'weakness' in some heavy handed fashion. Get Boak, Beams, Cloke... whatever. We need a revolution in our outlook, that includes supporters.

I guess it stems from supporters as well who are after instant success and who would prefer to take short cuts.

Yep all the tanking for the past 5 years and rebuild for 5 seems to have gone beautifully well - it's time to start again.

Happens when you put a sub par coach in charge.

He has no real vision.
No real game plan.
Cant enthuse.
Cant act
Cant impose himself .

The team is only a reflection of what how he has prepared them.
He is a reflection of Sticks and the board.

That is the club today. July 14 2012

Let it be known and remembered.

Let all these bozos feel the accountability.

Miles off what this club was... is what this club has become.

Carlton swagger?
Were Carlton @#$%&! the rest???
Can you smell what were cooking???
I am Carlton???

About time this club becomes serious again......

Bring on the broom!!!

We won't know until they play and get exposed at senior level. Watson has been good since he came up (but whoever came up with the idea of him being a ruckman should be shot). I believe we have a reasonable list but limited depth. The depth has to be developed by playing. Geelong developed its list in the twos but they play for the same club to the same structure, with a mixture of senior players for guidance and at their home ground. We get none of those things. If we rate the talent we have, then play them and find out (Collingwood routinely does).

If we don't rate them, we have to trade/delist them. I don't think that is necessary as I rate the talent.

Even if the kids (Buckley, McCarthy, Mitchell, Dale et al) are not ready, we need to fast track their development for depth purposes. They don't have to all play next week but they should all play at least 2-3 games before the end of the year.

Ok Synbad - I'll ask the questions.

Who has put there hand up to run the club or you would like?
Who is standing as an opposite ticket with a plan for members to vote for?
Should we go through a diligent process for a coach or sign Malthouse? What are your thoughts here?
Who should be replaced within our recruiting department and with whom?
Which coaches from the current would you keep and why?
What should we do with our home ground senario?

Some of the questions I wanted to discuss with you on Thursday but alas am stuck in bed with the flu - so lets be civil and discuss these now.

While sticks is there noone will challenge.

Its like that

they know that... the board has almost as many members as the team

Sticks is not the best person for the club.

Right now we need a coach ... process is secondary.

We blew process 5 years ago......

Weve wasted 5 years with that decisions.
We need someone we know something about......

A process may work out but its unknown also.

Adding unknown to 5 years of living in a Cryonic state isnt what we can affiord right now.

These guys are massive bananas.

Not hard to see what happened to Richmond now is it???

Seriously, for all your whinging. Go and barrack for them.

All you contribute is "Sack Ratts" and "Sack Sticks". Insightful.

And I couldn't give a stuff for the 47,000 posts you'll put up to defend yourself.

If I can butt in here the core issue is the board and the President
we have Stephen Kernahan a guy who has been the common denominator through all the crap that the club has done in the last decade or so. Jeanie Pratt is Vice President. How much does she know about footy. Thirteen on the board. No other board I know of any company has that many people.

The board which is where the decision process starts is flawed.
That has to change before we move forward.

My fear is Ratts will be sacked Malthouse is appointed and Sticks and the Pratts stay.

And the wheel of dysfunction will continue.

The change must start from the top

Harold Mitchell
Ian Herman

Someone anyone
A ticket has to challenge the board before we can have any onfield success.
