Went to the game thinking we were a good chance. Left with massive disappointment.
The gap between our best and worst is far too great, and takes us back to our formative years in 2007/08 with this list. Means some of the current list and coach need to be turned over. The game plan doesn't hold up against most teams.
Waste of 4 years with little to show for it. :banghead:

Better plan to keep Henderson forward and hope he could match Petrie's 7 goals in 3 quarters? Henderson didn't look like kicking a goal, even from ten metres out directly in front.

Henderson provided a target.
A target isn't worth much unless he can kick goals.

Time to send some blokes in for surgery and get a few games into the kids.

Ratten is a reactive coach.
He is overly defensive.
He tries to neutralise situations not win them.

Hes the dumbest coach going around.

Imagine bringing in Guus and allowing him a month to understand footy.

He would revolutionise football.

such a basic game... and Ratts cant understand it....

You keep believing that Synners but 3 of these guys kicked all our goals last year and they are the focal point of our forward line if they dont fire we lose and their difference between their good and bad is miles apart

just got home and am going to watch replay.

Back to the usual for us tonight. As I thought last week suited us. The large MCG combined with a lethargic opposition played into our hands. Once we come up against a side that puts on a press and midfield pressure we just collapse.

I have said it for weeks do not judge any players at the moment. They have no faith and belief in what we are doing.

I can understand the Henderson move for 5-10 minutes just to put the brakes on but when we got some ball early in the second quarter we had no one to get it to. Game over.

As a good mate of mine who is a long time Essendon* supporter said its Matty Knights all over again.

What a waste of a year.

SHould be an interesting week here and around the club

Killed by umps -some of the worst umpiring I've seen for a long while

Injuries have played a role
- loss of simpson + hampson
- loss of touhy pre-game
- loss of walker in the first 1/4
- loss of joseph before half time
- murphy 1st game back, patchy performance. Got the ball but minimal impact, skills down

Rucks and other strucures
- kreuzer isn't 100% - even last week. For proof, just look to see how 'high' he is able to jump
- hampson injured + warnock stupid enough to get suspended
- watson has hardly rucked before and we got smacked whenever he went in there
- henderson probably SHOULD have rucked but coming back from injury they may not have wanted to test him there
- casboult/mitchell not ready due to injuries,
- waite injured
- rowe unavailable

Other thoughts
- For the record, whilst I wouldn't mind seeing thornton in the team, he would not have had any impact in the ruck/clearances
- duigan should have been moved out of forward line a lot earlier
- thought lucas/curnow/garlett/jamison were poor
- better players were Judd, scotland, gibbs, collins, joseph (pre-injury), armfield (despite mistakes), mclean servicable - not much else after that.
- Fast paced game early on, with 2 players injured relatively early we were always going to struggle with rotations. We fell away as the game wore on

FMD - the ants have ANOTHER BYE - how the @#$%&! do we get fitness/conditioning/game time into casboult, mitchell, davies & white?

No, play as many kids as possible and see who can play. Get players who need it to get their operations now.

I'll speak in a language that Ratts may be able to understand

1. how is it possible to lose a game by nearly 10 goals when you have 55 more possessions than the opposition ?

2. how is it possible to lose a game by nearly 10 goals when you only have 4 less inside 50s than the opposition ?

3. how is it possible to lose a game by nearly 10 goals when you take 26 more marks and lay 15 more tackles ???

and finally...

4. how is it possible to make quality footballers look utterly inept on a regular basis ?

allow me to answer on ratt's behalf (because it is clear from recent history that he has not found the answer himself)

ANSWER : Because we have no consistent system that the team can rely on when the going gets tough ...and we have no structures that maximise the collective output of the team !!!!

For too long, we simply hope for acts of individual brilliance (eg a judd clearance, a betts snap, a walker grab et al) rather than come to rely on a structured system of play that can be relied on to deliver consistent success regardless of the individuals concerned.

ENOUGH IS SURELY ENOUGH !!!!!

it is no longer time to ask the question as to why we should sack rats....but it is now time to ask....WHY WOULD ANYONE KEEP HIM ????

Refer to my post on back to basics.

Ratten and match committee have to go.

I went to Frankston last week. Tonight we needed a forward line, Lucas had no business being selected was lazy in seconds.

I saw Ratten at Frankston so he knows that Thornton kickek 5.2 and one on full.

Needed to leave Jamison at Full Back, Watson at Centre half back, Duigun as roll up medium to cut off leads.

Forwards needed to play Thornton at Full Forward, Henderson at Centre half forward, Walker as 3rd leading medium tall (injury was bad luck).

No need to panic and makes stupid moves. Henderson had no business going back.

Also Levi should have been played as second ruckman.

Dumb in the box and selection committee.

Pick fit players, pick in form players,

If you watched seconds, Thornton and Bower were the standouts.

Nope. We need to get our senior players back in asap, even under a cloud, and keep our young guys running around without a proper coach in the 2's because they'll get exposed on the big stage, their confidence will be destroyed forever because we assume they're @#$%&! soft and we'll lose by big margins and embarassing the club. We can still make the finals this year damnit!!!

I tell you one thing if you think some people are anti Ratten you should of heard the crowd at 3/4 time as he walked around the boundary line.

Talk about feral. Wasn't good at all.
