We were singing his praises after the finals last year. Only need a couple of bad games, fit or not, and a bloke's whole career changes in the minds of some.

He'll be our best actually ruckman by a long way, with Kreuzer by far the best footballer of the 3 by a long way. Don't give away 206cm in a hurry. They're gold and we'd regret it. The 2nd half of his career with be great, like many ruckmen at that stage.

I agree 100%. I loved what he did in that final on his own against the 2 best ruck combo...He beat Cox and Nic Nat

He will be a great mark if he can get a preseason into that upper body and some power in those hips.

People forget he's had no preseason after shoulder ops....the 3 rucks we have will all get better IMO....seen it before

I cannot believe some are still whinging and whining about Sauce and blaming the club.

I can't be bothered looking but I bet it's the same people that conveniently want to rewrite the Elliott years and have them looking like roses.

The dude wanted to go home, it's as simple as that.

I think the urge to go home arose when the club swapped several draft picks and paid $400k a year for a fourth first ruck. At the time Sauce was lucky to be on $100k and probably thought he was better than the guy getting 4 times as much money.

I think it's been posted elsewhere before but circa 2002 when our starting ricks were Prendgast (192cm) and Merrington (192cm) then personally I can't get enough of 3 x 200cm plus ruckmen on our list.

Onya Agro.... Never want to go back to that nightmare after taking for granted our legacy of great ruck men prior to that...Nichols Percy Jones Fitzpatrick WOW Madden Allan....then the void.

I dont underrate ruck men.

Good lord. When was the last time we actually had all three fit and available for selection?

I haven't been his biggest fan this year but I'm pleased he re-signed.

Great for Carlton.

At the very least we have options.
Now if you want one we get something in return.
Like missnaut has touched on.
When were they all fit at the same time. Even with Jacobs on the list we struggled.

Even this year - one's had a limited pre-season and isn't 100%, one has just gone down with a serious injury, and one is playing but also isn't 100%.

I would love to see how many games they have played vs how many games they could have played since coming to Carlton.

Great move.
Need 3 ruckman in the team at all times. Just incase we have injuries.

The only ruckman we have that can out tap Sandilands.

Guy is only 25 and only played 58 games. Virtually a 3rd year player with time to blossom.

Great to hang onto Matthew Warnock who was rated as the second ruckman behind Seaby at West Perth. #Carltoncommentarybingo

Like many, your memory fails you miserably. Jacobs was a rookie at the time we got Warnock and not looking like making it. Think the thought of going home was far from his mind then. Kreuzer was a kid and Hammer wasn't real good at the time and looked upon as a speculative "experiment" from another state and sport. Hence we got Warnock because at the time we needed him.

I can't understand why this is so hard to understand.

Jacobs moved like a dinosaur when he was with us. Who would have thought. I for one thought Jacobs was too slow and not athletic enough for todays quick game.. He obviously worked much harder at Adelaide..

I didnt realise how lucky we are to have someone who knows everything and remembers everything in our midst.

Or like most ruckmen he matured over time.

However, can you even trade a player who has been given a new contract in that same year? Why three years?

My oath I am. You should be more appreciative to be in such presence .

It's true though, like to see someone tell me I'm wrong. Football supporters have a memory span of 10 seconds. Doesn't matter which club. Players can have a few good years but have half a bad season and you're trade bait because you're no good. Despite that though they're still always good enough to command a high draft pick...lol! Footy supporters are like watching a movie for the 3rd time, you know what's going to happen.

Have a look at this week with Kreuzer very doubtful then you know why. Also in any trade we hold the whip hand for a couple of years being under contract, with either Hampson or Warnock. don't want a Jacobs situation where you lose a gun ruckman for bugger all because he's out of contract. Ratts just said as much.

He did when he first got to the club but it was identified and he worked bloody hard to fix it. He dropped weight, worked on flexibity and mobility every day. His ruckwork also improved dramatically working with Capuano every day.

No one trained harder than this kid. He deserves everything he gets. Nice country kid as well.

Absolute indictment on the club he left. If he had been promised games he would of stayed. That came from him.

A great offer came from Adelaide for not much more money but the promise of the number one ruck spot. Thats why he left. Nothing else!
