Going from the VFL match reports, Dale might be a worthwhile fill in for Simmo. Doesn't sound like Lucas had a good one.

Hampson - if ready Henderson or Waite, if not Warnock

Simpson - if ready Murphy, if not Dale, Lucas, Ellard or Kerr.

Selection will be interesting.

About 6 weeks ago Jeffy should have been dropped, but he is doing everything except goal kicking right now, i would leave him in, as the goals will come soon.

Ellard, curnow & McLean in same team sounds like too much but ellard has been a good sub in the past and come on late and kicked 2-3. The other two dont have the pace and goal kicking ability to impact as sub. McLean I know was a superb sub Friday but that's cos he played 85% of the game. Can't see him comin on in the last and creating play.

So would be surprised if they play ellard after his BOG performance in VFL.

That being said if murph is right he'll be a certainty ahead of everyone.

Lucas by reports lacked motivation but still was amongst best. If he is indeed on the way out, building his currency wouldn be a bad idea would it?

Are you saying ... drop McLean ... :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

He was close to best on ground on Friday????

No way will that happen.

If you mean me than no.
Saying that I can see all three(ellard, McLean & curnow) in the one team but only if ellard is sub because he has the speed and knack around goals to make impact late. He could play a fwd role if need be. I don't think a McLean or curnow could come on in the last qtr and do as much damage they're work horses.

We can't have McLean, Curnow and Ellard together.
Unfortunately for his sake I don't see Ellard displacing the other two.
He's disposal isn't delivered sharply or with much penetration and his inside work isn't as forceful as what is needed either.
What impressed me about McLean on Friday was his release of our outside run with clean handballs and the ability to find space also.
Curnow also started to resemble the player before he was injured last year which is very promising and to me he does seem to have some toe when needed.
What we need for this week is Henderson/Waite or both in the forward line and a couple of extra runners against a slow side like North.
The MC have the added bonus of putting Duigan back and maybe releasing Yarran to the wing.

If Friday night proved one thing it was Yarran is a centre half-back. Not a winger and not a sub. Running through the middle of the ground, bouncing and delivering the ball on a plate.

A centre half-back in the true sense.

Or a wing in the true sense.

Most coach's will try to isolate Yarran in the square, tag him or make him responsible as a true defender.

A heath shaw type, rebounding defender. tbh, more of a half back flanker. He gets plenty of ball, provides run and has maybe the best disposal in the club.

On the wing, he doesn't seem to get half the amount of ball and his opposite invariably always comes out on top?

Yep. Yaz Gibbs and Touhy all playing in behind the ball will make it hard for coaches to isolate.
Our best games this season have been with these 3 behind the ball and in good form. Yaz brings out the goodness in Gibbs and Gibbs in Yaz. Touhy's time will come.

Yeah, I expected as much. Not long enough for me.
If they drifted to $2.90 plus i'd throw some money on North, but those odds are about what i would have expected with these two teams.

ALMOST won a crap-load on Gold Coast beating Geelong............ so close. So very close. But, you know the old saying about Gambling............. 'Tough Shit!'

I'll give you a bit of a 'hot tip' though. Josh Kennedy is out to $10 a place in the brownlow. That's great value for somebody averaging 27 dissposals and a goal per game!
I'm on him!
Won on Judd for a place the year before and Swan for the win last year and Cooney a few years before that so hopefully my luck continues this year!

But I digress............

If anyone has any membership barcodes they're not using this week and they'd be willing to let me use to buy some reserved seats, I'd love a PM. Need an adult and 2 kids.

If the effort and pressure is there we should win. They're playing a taxing style as well so we should be able to run out the game better than they will. I'd like to see Yarran on Harvey when he's playing forward if they allow it. A bit dangerous if we turn it over but would allow Yarran space to create because Harvey won't play him anywhere near as tight as he should.
