Again this week has highlighted our poor efforts in trading/recruiting.

Sam Jacobs BOG
122DT 61 hitouts 5 Clearances

Shawn Grigg
123DT 35 possessions 74%DE 1 goal 3 goal assists

Could we have really not fitted theses guys into our side? Makes you wonder.

Sick of revisiting Jacobs, he wanted to go back to Adelaide.

Unless the Club was relocating we weren't going to keep him.

Grigg wanted to go.
At the time Jacobs was traded, there would have been a lot that thought he was behind our other three.

Something had to give in the rucks and unfortunately for Jacobs it was a case of letting the bloke who came off the rookie list go. If he was here we'd still have the dilemma of what to do with Kreuzer, and I think we saw Friday night what the answer to that dilemma is. Would like to have got more for him, but he went before really breaking out.

Too many rabbit in the headlights moments for me to be upset about losing Grigg. Is he the sort of guy that will stand up at the pointy end of the season? I doubt it. Not saying we haven't got other blokes like that, but I'm not losing any sleep over Grigg.

Sam - go home factor
Shawn - Money factor

It happens we've obtained players from other clubs Judd Scotland carrazzo ect so it's not all one way traffic and all evens out in the end

Enjoy what happened Friday champ

We are Carlton

Had have Jacobs still been with us, you could have gone to watch him at Frankston today.
He's making good of his opportunity and we should be happy for him.
No point pining over something out of our control.

Grigg? He can get 50 possessions next week and I'd still be glad we haven't got him.
A team is made up by the sum of its parts and Grigg wasn't a great part, nor seemingly wanted to be.

The thing that annoys me with the Jacobs trade is that the club wasn't brave enough to realise that it already had three bonafide rucks on our list before it started chasing Warnock. If it had been diligent, this assessment would have been fairly obvious at the time IMO and the club shouldn't have bothered chasing Robbie for what has proven to be an inflated price.

Looking back, we overpayed for Warnock and really his output has not justified the effort and cost we put in acquiring him. We ended up losing a young ruck who has now elevated himself into one of the league's best and overtaken the guy we spent so much to acquire. And to think he now looks like packing up and moving on is even more irritating.

AFAIC, another case of poor list management and the chance to acquire some more young talent with the 2nd round pick we relinquished is an opportunity lost

Grigg, lost cause. Don't waste a second thinking about him. He's not that good anyway.

Sam, that wasn't go-home factor. That was regular-ruck factor. He was like the 3rd in line wicketkeeper moving states. We could've kept him but we backed Warnock over him. Mistake (and possibly a contributing reason why our list-management was identified as a problem area when Andy McKay came on board).

Ruck's a problem we just had too many at the same level of development all at the same time... Couldn't keep them all. poor list development. But Warnock looked the goods back then too. It's a hard thing to get right.

Warnock has been hampered by injuries this year. I can see him being traded and doing well for his new team next year.

i agree he wont be at the club next year... will be killing it somewhere else... we will get maybe a second rounder....

Good fit for Collingwood.

Its not like we sacked them. They walked out for different reasons. If either (or both) had been willing to stay they would have.

Geelong fans might think the same about Laidler. Or Collingwood fans about Scotland.

didnt we get a pick in the 30s for jacobs which meant we then had 2 picks in that range and were able to use one on laidler??

pretty sure we got mcinnes with the other pick we got for jacobs. wasnt a complete tragedy.

as for grigg....i think collins looks ok. could add more than grigg long term.

With Hammer's knee being an unknown PCL or ACL, 206 won't be going anywhere.

It will be PCL, identical incident to when he did it against the swans.

The silver lining with the Jacobs trade is that we ended up using that pick to acquire Laidler. And as a straight swap that probable is a break even for us

Spot on apart from McInnes. The pick was used on Mitchell.

I'm guessing your DT opponent has these guys and you don't.

Just trade your muppet midfielder who isn't pulling his weight for Adam Goodes.

Make yourself feel better by putting yourself in Brisbanes shoes with the Fev trade. They have nothing to show for pick 12 and Hendo. We still have Collins and McCarthy(I think that's was Jacobs' pick - happy to be corrected).

He is definitely a back end of the season performer, usually coz
He hasn't done a preseason.

With Hammer gone we just need to sign him up, get some miles into him and play him as much as we can. That way if he is traded out we get maximum return.
