PROS: happiness. enjoyable weekend where papers, radio, and footy shows are fun again.
Team Carlton is back. Boys got around each other, and for each other. Coaching was good.

CONS: umm.......thinking........

ok..Some more goal practice. Injuries.
and... not enough of Eddie's face during game.

Just on Wellingham. Did the wrong thing, was a weak hit, but he'll pay the price at the tribunal. I reckon he would have regretted it immediately after. Apologising and having a moment with Simmo after the game doesn't excuse it in any way, but its an acknowledgment he did the wrong thing.

Also, he now has being booed by Carlton fans for the rest of his career to look forward too!

Reason we won was simple. For the first time in a while Rats played some key guys where they should be.

Walker out of the goal square. He spreads the defense and allows Betts and Garlett to find crumbs. No coincidence the three guys who combined for 150 goals last season got up and running last night. Is that not the 1st time this season we reverted back to last year's forward structure & personnel?

Yarran off the half back flank. He's not a winger, he's not a sub. His disposal is nearly flawless. It helps that he is finally injury free.

Krooze on the ball for 90%+ of the game, where he should be. I noticed after halftime his other knee was heavily strapped. I don't wanna read too much into that, but it's hard not to.

How good was it to see Ratts personally congraulate each and every guy in the sheds after the song. The guys love him & it showed. Keep ratten, but spend some money to buff him out with a quality support staff, ala Essendon*.

FIrst time in 11 years we've beaten a side number one on the ladder.

Amazing games from Robbo, Judd, Betts Kreuzer Yarran Duigan and McLean.
Watson coming along well starting to find the intensity at this level, Like Collins and Curnow's efforts too.
I guess it's safe to say the players still like Ratts.
Haven't missed a Blues V. Pies game in over a decade and had to watch on Australia Network up here in Vietnam in hotel. TV room remote still recovering from wall incident when Simmo got sniped.
Probably our best underdog effort since 99 prelim.
Life gives you many things, but unplanned pure joyous moments such as with games like that.(yes I have been married a long time) are all too rare.

Interesting how much better rucks look when they're given the responsibility of being the lone ruck. Been hard to stomach watching Jacobs do it, but Kreuz really stood up with those extra duties.

Wonder if its worth keeping Watson in next week, give him the Thornton swingman role, with 5 minute chop outs for Kreuz in the ruck, rather than playing Warnock..

Apart from the fact he's benefitting from a stretch of time playing in defence, I like it.

Would allow us to play him forward for stretches as well.

Yeah warnock will wreak our newfound structure. Ultimately I reckon it will come down to how Kreuzer pulls up after 100 minutes on the ball.

Any other taller guys (KPP) we can bring in to pinch hit in the ruck for 5 mins here & there?

Ummm, why should he be "possibly" dropped anyway.....? He stays regardless, is showing something out there, you'd just be stifling him now by dropping him. There's also the talls Nth play...

That both Henderson and Waite may come back in, and may be forced out for team balance?

Pros:
Proves to me that the players are much better than recent performances would suggest.
Collingwood let us play our game... Hardly anyone does that anymore after Essendon* dismantled us.
First gamer being given a job, rather than left to rot on the bench.
Silly 3ruck policy dead. Essendon* figured that out a year ago.
Beating Collinwood, obviously.

Cons:
Hammer. Bugger.
We only play well when the opposition's game style suits us. Cannot possibly go deep into September as a result.

He's not saying drop Watson. He's suggesting throwing Watson into the ruck to spell Krooze here and there.

This would eliminate having Warnock come back into the team. Warnock is can't play a hampson role and be effective up forward.

Kreuzer needs to play on the ball 90%+ every game, as long as his health allows it

Scrolling through a "supporters" forum and reading negative posts after such a good win?

CON: Ratts coached beautifully last night. Selections were proven to be correct from players available. Yet some people on here still find stuff to whinge about. The next 4 games are now very winnable IF the players (apart from Garlett who surely has now been exposed) keep the momentum and play with this intensity. We all should know that you only need to be about 5% off of your best (including coaches) and you will lose badly. Unfortunately we have had too many in this boat since we played them last time. I remain positive that this club and this season is not stuffed as many have resigned themselves to on here.

PRO: Loved seeing Gibbs produce what he is capable of. Yarran wanted to play again! INTENSITY, WANT made a return.......lets enjoy this week

Hendo would replace Hammer up fwd up I'd say (though thought it was a 3-4 weeks with him?). Think we'd be silly to bring Waite straight in after such a long lay off plus with the injury he'd be well short of fitness if by reports he was doing squat whilst they were trying to determine the extent/nature of the injury at the start.
Murph back as well?? - too risky bringing them all back at once, especially Waite & Murph due to the length on the sidelines.

A big PRO has been Robinson since Murph got injured and Judd was down.
I think he's taken his game to another level. His leadership out on the ground has been one shining light out of a horrible season.

Pros:
Duigan - brilliant job
kreuzer+yarran back in form
mcinness debut
carazzo - potentially our most important mid
mclean - great job when he came on - desperation + smothers

Cons:
Hampson injury - was involved/responsible for the 2 goals we kicked - brilliant tap to collins, and the marking contest that lead to duigans goal).
After having sat through hawthorn live, couldn't make this game :(

Just needs to refine his disposal and he'd be up there with Beams with praise.
