Tonight is the very reason why most of us got totally pissed off with our last month or so.
We beat the league leaders and beat them well without a key position forward and half our side out!
We should demand these guys play like that every game. That is the standard we should expect.

Sets the minimum.
Means we should be doing at least this.
If were not.. there is something wrong.

Maybe there is something wrong. Maybe, just maybe you're (note the apostrophe) wrong.
Glass half empty as usual.

Football clubs are not always about KPI's, and the board and change and sacking coaches and flicking off Presidents. They're (apostrophe again) about efficiency and teamwork and playing for one another and faith and passion.

And sometimes that just prevails and turns a season around and a club's (apostrophe) fortunes around (literally and figuratively)

maybe but in my opinion.

footy is played to a formula
the team with the better formula will win more games.

and part of the formula is the passion faith etc.

repetition builds that.....

so yeah nah.... too simplistic.. if you think things fall from the clouds

hate simplistic.. means you want things to fall from the clouds

A fun night at the G.

Probably papering over the cracks, but hey - if we're gonna paper over the cracks, may as well do it in style!!

Great win against all odds - reminded me against the bummers in 2001 when we lost braddles and sos before the game and were not expected to win.

Good to see us being daring with our moves - Duigan up forward was key to the outcome and yielded dividends.

Good to see Yaz back to his best - very Macleod-esque.

We have a benchmark now, and anything less is considered unacceptable.

I think tonight showed the problems the MC have had all year. For the first time i reckon this season they were actually able to bring 3 players into the side in good form and drop 3 that weren't. Collins, Curnow & McInnes have had solid weeks at reserves level and were rewarded with games. I can't remember the coaches bringing anyone back into the side with any form due to the constant injuries.

The other thing it showed us was they play for the coach. Which is huge. Despite what everyone says. If there were a week for players to make a statement and not win a game of football this was it. And they did the opposite. Across the board. They fought for their coach. This wasn't about the supporters. Most of you had jumped off. Were potting everyone. The media jumped off. This was about the playing group & the coaches.

The other thing was the bravery the coach did show. To try Duigan forward. His balls were on the line and he had the courage to try something he didn't know. Put faith in a player to deliver and that he did. The other thing he did was play a first gamer in the biggest game of his career. A young defender. He put the teams progression ahead of himself. He could have played a Paul Bower a Bret Thornton in that role, yet he went with a first gamer alongside Matty Watson. What a terrific sign of a coach who is putting the club before himself.

Let's hope the Northern Blues have some more positive performances. Hopefully Kane Lucas plays well again.

Absolutely wrapped for the players and the coach, in a week where 50-70% of the supporters gave up on the club - and learnt there lesson.

Go the blues!

Great win

But where has this passion been the last 10 weeks.
Collingwood shat themselves when we brought the intensiy to this game.

I guess when your on your last lot of legs you throw caution to the wind.

Means nothing if we miss the 8 though

Reckon Wellingham will receive the max sentence.

If that is the effort and determination we can bring to the table, then it needs to be delivered week in, week out.
Not when the backs are against the wall. Every bloody week. Im as happy as a pig in sh!t about last night but a part of me is still angry that we lost our way for 10 weeks or so and have been so half-arsed.

That effort & determination needs to be produced during games, during training, during every session these boys are involved in to improve themselves as footballers and each other as a team.

Unwavering focus and desire to improve and be the best. It up to the players, the coaches and management at the club. If it wavers then you're not providing the minimum effort required and you need to step aside.

The club needs to realise that without that ruthless mindset we will be left behind. Thats all I want as a member

Yes we expect that every week but it isn't sustainable when you have injured players out on the park because there is no one else to bring in hence the difference this week bringing players back into the side in form. The inability to drop players throughout the year for no one to come in to replace has been so evident.

>>>>>>>

Where you at the other two games by the way??

Geelong game - effort / intensity was there ---> we kicked 2.9 in the last quarter.
West Coast game - effort / intensity was there ---> we could have berried them with better execution but the effort was there.

The only lapse in the last four games was the Hawthorn game. Why did it happen? I am not sure but it does happen that intensity / effort isn't there. Look at North? v Hawthorn. Came out the next three weeks with much better performances. Look at Collingwood twice against us. It is going to happen. You can't bring it week in week out for what ever reason and its always been the same. But to say that we haven't done it for 7 weeks is rubbish. 3 out of the last 4 games have been incredibly good performances against the best sides in the competition.

Roobooy, your last two posts have echoed my thoughts exactly.

I wonder if you too laugh at some of the repetitive sh$t that some "older" posters rattle on about on here? Makes you wonder if some people have ever actually been involved in a footy club other than playing a few "c" grade games.............

The funny thing is after all us "experts" demanding
Rattens head
an internal review
certain players dropped
blaming injuries
depth
goal kicking
players mass
blah blah blah

all you need is passion, team work and intensity.
