Look, I don’t like to post rumours especially when I can’t verify the actual source but I have a close friend who has contact with Kane (through his work) and Kane has repeated on few occasions that he will be asking for a trade back to WA at year’s end. My friend indicated to me that he is frustrated and dispirited at present.

Will WC or Freo get Lucas and his Victorian GF ala Judd, Armfield and Twigley for Kennedy, Masten and Notte?

It will be a Walker type situation if Lucas asks for a trade. No deal if they want to offer us the equivalent of Andrejs Everitt in Koby Stevens for Lucas.

Good mates with Mitch Duncan ala Gibbs and Austin.

Like i keep saying.
The club is a drone.
It cant be good bad or whatever by itself
ITs about the people in it.
Admin
staff
coaches
players

supporters.

There is no Carlton swagger.

Its whats created from wuthin as a culture.

Players unhappy
Players not performing
Board no direction

= dispirited supporters.

Simple

Thats the club .

You cannot separate the supporters from the players and the admin.

Its all one....

This club doesnt understand how it works

Lets be honest. Lucas has not been playing well. Poor for Carlton and worse for Northern. Last week was a step in the right direction.

Hopefully Lucas and Collins can get themselves into good form and come into the team at the same time as Murphy and possibly Waite. Hopefully this happens while there is still time for us to make the finals.

Fingers crossed.

still think he's a bit windy - not sure the Carlton style of development has helped him either

Not a great Joseph fan either but far better defensive qualities than Lucas. As another poster mentioned, far too often when it's his turn to go or chase down he is found wanting. People suggesting we play him off half-back are kidding themselves as he is not accountable defensively and the opposition will view this as an avenue to goal. In saying all of this, I think Kane has some genuine ability and he is a classic example of our lack of player development.

Played a really good game on the weekend. I am glad they didn't pick him off one good performance. Would like to see players earn games in the side. One of the problems with our year so far is players haven't had to earn games due to limited selection depth all season. Can't drop players because no one is available to replace them with. At least now with some numbers coming back the MC can hold off a bit more and reward consistency. Like Curnow, Collins & McInnes.

Phht. Nah, with 3 years of top Carlton development in him, it's NicNat or nothin'.....

Yeah, while AJ is a classic example of our lack of ability in regards to list management.

If Lucas's game has all these flaws, which I suspect he had during his junior footballing days, why the hell did we draft him with a 1st round draft pick? Did the recruiters underestimate the development required in him?

That bit I highlighted in yellow.... what is that.

Carlton style of development? ..... it's a bit like saying "the Sahara Desert style of trees" or "the Moon's style of atmosphere"....

With Walker pushing up the ground and Garlett low on confidence it frustrates me to see Lucas languishing in the reserves. Sure he needs to earn his spot and learn to run both ways but why aren't we applying this principle to all the players. For a team struggling to register a competitive score we could do with him playing up forward. Great above head and unlike many of our players very competent finisher running into goals. He picked up 30 + possessions in the VFL yet can not find himself a spot in a team which was smashed by Hawthorn. Hopefully Ratten does not get the chance to turn him into a tagger. We are full of them.

Conundrum

..considering how we're doing things these days, VFL form can jam it.. ..for so many reasons.. ..Lucas, unless injured,, should be developing in the seniors.. ..odd poor games are to be expected in a developing kid, more'so with our 'tactics' and 'team-work'..
