Just another name to throw in the hat. I'm not from SA and haven't seen him first hand but by all reports Nathan Basset has done a remarkable job at Norwood I think over the past few years.
He has groomed alot of now AFL players and they can't speak more highly of him and how he goes about his coaching.
Duigan & Rowe both played under him. Haven't seen Rowe yet but if he can inject the hunger, desperation & team focus Duigan obtained while playing for him into the rest of the team we'll be climbing the ladder in no time.
Pretty rare for a bloke to jump straight into senior coaching role from VFL/SANFL/WAFL role but even look to put him on as an assistant.

Does anyone have more insight into how he operates and comes across personally.

He comes with big wraps on him over here. Apparently a good 'systems' man and can get things all lined up. He has the entire club from juniors working to the same game plan.

I read on the weekend that he has been closely aligned to Hawthorn for next year and has not renewed his contract with Norwood.

The last coach we got from Norwood isn't going too well. ;)

Seriously, though, he won't be the worst suggestion, but you'd think he'd need some assistant experience within the AFL before getting a senior gig. And he also fits the mold of no-frills-defenders-make-good-coaches.

Definitely not a bad idea, have a proper process though and see what happens.

Agree. I would feel a lot more comfortable interviewing guys like this, before we just appoint a big name. ---- Ignoring a coaching selection process has just failed. Hopefully, we don't go down the same path again

Next year he will go to an AFL team and become an assistant. Hawthorn have offered him a role in 2013.
