No Forwards.......... Do we give MITCHELL a go.......

Thornton as the 2nd tall either back or forward and McInnes..... coz he's going well in the 2's!

I heard on radio tonight that there are only 6,000 reserved seats left for the game, so could be a sellout. This surprises me as i didnt think too many Carlton supporters will turn up. I guess there will be 70,000 Collingwood supporters and about 10,000 Carlton.

It's going to get ugly - a lot of Collingwood supporters will want us to eat some "crow" this Friday night.

Jesus Christ .

It's not even Wed and I'm having delusional thoughts about a slim chance at victory.

It must be the promos on Fox Footy. They just keep running it, unfortunately all the vision is from our famous GF victories.

I don't even consider a remote possibility of winning.

I have entertained thoughts of a semi respectable loss, which would probably make me even more angry.

Win or get flogged, don't want to hear Ratts crap in about how he saw great signs in a 37 point loss when we were 53 down at 3/4 time.

Problem is we are playing them as our KP forwards and not as 3rd talls.
Development & Structure might be an issue here though.

But in order to play them as 3rd talls, we would need 1st and 2nd talls...all of which are either injured or clearly not ready (Mitchell).

So they are needed to fill the key posts while Waite, Henderson, Rowe and Casboult are injured. Thornton is the only other option but he himself is the 3rd tall-type. I'm not sure what else we can realistically do under the circumstances.

..creative coaches would come up with a working F50 strategy, using what actual fit fwds we have.. ..our rucks dont have fwd craft.. ..they're just talls, resting rucks playing as KPFs.. ..opposition defenders are making the play against us on a regular basis cos of this..

Normally I would agree but our players would see that as a tag and go all defensive

Totally agree. If presses and zones cant be adhered to just go man on man. Tell the players they must atleast break even with their opponents.

Coupled with the players showing some fair dinkum heart, fight and mongrel.

Right now I haven't seen a helluva lot from any of them that tells me they give a @#$%&!.

This shouldn't be conditional. I don't care if you hate ratts or whatever your issues are. You pull one the cfc jumper, you represent yourself and the club. Where's the fight, where is the pride in performance, where is the passion?

They need to rise above and truly compete.

Haha, it's the supporter's curse. I have it too.

I only stopped thinking similar thoughts about the Hawthorn game about a minute before the first bounce.

Too true. But I'm normally immune till at least Wednesdays, sometimes I even stay in a semi lucid state of reality till Thursday.

That's my point, our rucks are playing in the KPF positions out of necessity, not because they are forwards. Unfortunately, it's never going to work. So given the lack of available key forward options, the rucks' inability to play as key forwards, what else could we do?

The only thing I can think of would be to go with three smalls like Betts, Garlett and Collins, a third forward like Thornton and a leadup forward like Walker and one of Hampson/Kreuzer out of necessity to provide a bigger body. Not ideal but we don't have many options to throw around at the moment. Something like that might be worth a shot...
