No tweets about hairdo's or cosmetic companies. Maybe that's what Sticks banned to toughen us up a bit ;-)

Bryce Gibbs quote from press conference: "It's not all the coach's fault. We're all accountable."

Sticking fat...

Gibbs jumps to Ratts' defence
Quote:
EMBATTLED midfielder Bryce Gibbs has jumped to the defence of Brett Ratten, declaring he has "no doubt" the club will honour the coach's contract next year.

The under-siege coach has been placed in the gun by the footy public with the Blues dropping six of their past seven matches to fall outside the top eight in an injury-crippled season.

Carlton, now at long odds to make September, face a Collingwood side shooting for its 11th-straight win on Friday night.

Gibbs said the Blues had not ruled out finals footy this year.

"I have no doubt (Ratten) will be here next year. He's been fantastic and we're working hard to turn it all around," Gibbs said today.

"We're all accountable. We've played some OK footy, but haven't got a win. We need a win just to build a bit of confidence."

The No. 1 draft pick, who has had an underwhelming year playing predominantly from halfback with spurts in the midfield, said the injury crisis had dictated where he's played this year.

"Hopefully I can get into the middle in the second half of the year," he said.

Mark Robinson talks about a dysfunctional forward line yet makes no mention of a 56 goal Andrew Walker being played on the @#$%&! wing.

Everyone is to blame,

The effort on and off the field involving Fridays game was pathetic.

Have thought about this one, I think MC had to change tactics since the Essendon* game & the +1 they had around the ball to stop our efficency, maybe it's a function of that. If not, makes no sense whyTex has been taken out of such a dysfuntioned forward line.

Robbo is looking for excuses for saying we would the Premiership this year.

He has no credibility now in making that call, so he goes with the excuses.

Well Gibbs supports Ratts:

But a number of players supported Pagan in the media shortly before his exit

When was the last time a player at any club came out and said, "The coach is a @#$%&! nong, we can't stand the prick, he has no idea and the sooner he's gone the better!"?

Of course, the players are publicly supporting the coach, it's the way footy clubs have operated for 100+ years.

The players may well love Ratts, so this support from GIBBS! may be sincere … but I think we also know that there's a fair chance he's just being polite.

Only one I can think of is Peter Everitt being quite critical of both coach and caretaker before leaving the Hawks in 2004...

Bullshit. Spent about 3/4 of the game minding a 20m patch of grass on the members wing, jogging back and forth pretending to put a tail on Jordan Lewis. Disgustingly lacklustre, and to top it off was tweeting about Happy Gilmore with Brock before I'd even made it home from the game.

Farrrk. How many half bank flankers have we recruited? Give them a chance and move Gibbs to the midfield, pretty bloody simple for one willing to take risks.

Exactly. Also was prepped by the Carlton media woman just before the interview. Any comments he provided mean absolutely nothing.

I reckon it might have something to do with Murphy going down. We are trying to use Walker and his run to compensate for the loss of Murphy. Walker has kicked two goals in each of the three completed games in which he and Murphy have played this season. But since Murphy went down, Walker has only kicked four goals in five games as a result of playing more in the midfield. Walker is getting his hands on the footy but we miss him in the forward line. It is robbing Peter to pay Paul and it has not really worked but it is my theory anyway.

We have Collins who can provide run through the middle...he may not have the endurance that Walker has but he's a smart footballer and a good kick.

Why play him Effes when we are going to use injuries and our conditioning team as the reason the season has gone @#$%&! pair shape.

I would like to see more of Collins through the middle as well. I'm just trying to understand why a 50-goal forward has been playing in the midfield and I reckon Murphy going down at least partly explains it.
