We've got the Malthouse thread, we've got the Roos thread, and hell we've even got Clarkson and Thompson threads. But assuming things continue the way they seem destined to, and we're on the lookout for a new coach for next year, who are some of our other options of the same ilk as Sanderson or Neeld? Some of the names not mentioned, who seem ready to take on their first senior gig and introduce some fresh ideas.

A few of the top of my head:
- Alan Richardson
- Gavin Brown
- Ken Hinkley
- Nathan Bassett
- Leon Cameron

Who would be the other dark horses to choose from?

Someone discussed in another thread is Scott Burns. The only way I'd want Malthouse on board if it's a mentor role with Scott Burns. The West Coast midfield group can't speak highly enough of Burns. Look at some of their set-ups around the stoppages and centre-bounces and you'll understand why. It's creative, defensive, attacking, tough and surprisingly simple in it's makeup - but difficult to coach against. More importantly, it's easily transferable to our midfield and I'd love to see how he could utilize the lesser-likes in Curnow, Lucas, Ellard if they're around next year.

I personally think he will be a brilliant captain coach. He's involved with all MC duties anyway and knows the players intimately. Seriously doubt he will do it...but love to see it.

You probably intended to take the piss, but you raise an interesting point. It's not just Riley who's midfield coach. It's input from Riley/Ratten/Williams coupled with significant input from Judd. So if Ratten is shown the 'early door', and Riley goes with him - you'd have an argument that perhaps Juddy's input to the midfield set-up and set-plays isn't all that great. In fact the incumbent coach should have every right to say to the captain...'We work as a team, and we do it my way'.

I'm reminded of a cricket quote attributed to former QLD captain Trevor Barsby, who when informed by one of his smartarse teammates that "there's no I in team" simply responded with "No, but there's plenty in "I'M THE ****ING CAPTAIN" "

No I wasn't - one from left field & out of the box dare to be different that could probably work if Juddy wants yet another challenge and up for it.
I for one would not doubt his abilities as Captain and Coach. In his 100th interview he was saying we are doing well but still a long way to go - gotta love that.

In some game sense drills, there's a person designated as 'the spoiler".
His role is to be a disturbance and upset the flow of the drill. He doesnt contribute in a positive sense, in fact, all of his efforts are to intentionally create havoc.

Thats the role you're playing here, isn't it?
You have some interesting things to say sometimes but you intersperse them with absolutely moronic comments which are intentionally made to drag threads off on ridiculous tangents.

Why?

I have no idea what you mean other than having blinkers on and not abling to appropriately debate the context..nothing more to say than that.

Juddy's made it clear he has little to no interest in football after his time is up, so it's a moot point anyway.

Now if it's all the same I'd like the thread that bears my name under "Author" to stay on-topic :hitcomputer:
