Waite has been one big frustration, can do the miracle act then has a brain fade - we miss him of course as there isn't anyone of substance to kick the ball now. He will be our tampon until he retires, in for one week and out for three

We have no hope of recruiting a gun fwd unless they fall into our lap, our recruiters are very, very ordinary and our development is just as poor

I find it funny that you think our recruiters are ordinary and can't find a forward, yet you mentioned Kennedy in your post. Truth is we have had to address the midfield, backline and ruck since Hughes took over. Yet the club wouldn't have been in the finals for fouryears if our recruiting and development was abysmal. The club wasn't even supposed to be a finals chance after we sacked Fevola. Yet now we expect and want a flag under Ratten. Your argument doesn't add up.

I stand by the fact our recruitment has been crap

we had 3 No.1 picks in a row, people outside of Carlton say we got all 3 wrong, I admit i am happy with Murph and Kreuzer but most will say Pendelbury or Cotchin are better. Gibbs vs Selwood, less said the better, but he did play with his socks down on friday night so they gave him a rugged appearance

Kennedy was a good pick, but that also fell into our laps as the two clubs that had the opportunity to pick him (Hawks & Pies) both had power fwd's and weren't looking for KP fwd's, they were after mids

We were gifted Judd - no recruiting strategy behind that other than Swann negotiations

Fev trade we wanted the broken down Bradshaw and Rischetelli, thank christ Ricky Nixon brokered the deal for his client Hendo and a first round pick to go the the Blues for Fev (that pick we used on Lucas rather than Talia)

You can go back to when we got Eddie Betts in the pre-season draft, we wanted Trent Knobel but the club was shattered when the Tigers grabbed him and we were 'stuck' with Eddie Betts

Mark Riley would have had something to do with Chris Johnson (no lost pick i admit) and Brock McLean leaving the Dees - waste of time both of them

Sorry, but our recruiting has been bloody ordinary

I'm thinking this as well. It's untenable.

Let's hope the club does not think it is like Geelong circa 2006 in relation to a possible extensive review. That would be the simplistic approach. I keep hearing comparisons to Geelong but we are facing a completely different set of circumstances. Need to be smarter than that and not just simply assume everything will be right beyond this year. That includes whether our current coach is really up to it.

Not bad from Connolly except for the garbage about Jacobs and Grigg - he writes as though we had a choice with regard to those two.

I heard a story on the weekend that may or may not be true but I think its a good story.
A high profile businessman was approached to join the board with the view to becoming president.
He said, yes I'm interested but the best way forward is that all board positions are spilled and we all run and let the members decide who should be on the board.
The board cooled very quickly.

Excellent news, Sticks can't say anything to a guy who gives so much money too us either.

Finally what we have been seeing is out in the wider public forum.

Best case scenario is Sticks and Ratts are not allowed within a 5km radius of Visy Park come September.

We are a traveling circus at the moment and The vast majority have had a gutful of the club being run by 1995 mates who have little clue in running a modern 2012 professional sporting club.

Wr should be the best club in the land and it's great to have people finally speaking out about the joke of a club we now are.

In the grand scheme of things we need to lose to north which will hopefully lead to a full blown review.

Go get him (I still don't know if kouta is a he or she), Bomba, however, he's probably already going on about hindsight and other crap like that. However, it's what goes on in deciding who gets retained and what happens in trade week before the draft that is an even bigger issue. I'm also sure that media consensus and the general consensus of the AFL club's recruiters are two very different things.

I find it both telling and disturbing that these forums have predicted exactly who we'd take with lower selections in years when we've had a meagre draft presence. It can't be a very fruitful way to build a list.

There is one sure way to cause a spill. Mathieson has to stand on a complete ticket with viable alternatives. Steven Kernahan never wanted to be president and didn't and doesn't have the business acumen to be so. He is sitting comfortable on his botty there atm with Jeannie Pratt as his bodyguard and has not been challenged for the presidency, largely because in his time the club has gone from 16th to 5th. If someone wants to create a spill, be it Mathieson or Grollo or Fraser Brown or Ahmed anybody else or all of them, all they have to do is nominate at the next board elections and they will win or lose on the members' votes. That's how you do it, not by sniping from Queensland.
