Its not fitness that told our defenders to play up the ground only to see hawthorn kick over our so called defense and find themselves alone time and time again into an open goal..

This happens just about every first quarter then gets adjusted later in the game.

What about the other game plan where all our players flood back only to get the ball and find no one forward, as all our players are running up and down the ground like headless chooks.

What about the way we kick the ball to our forward line on betts head rather than in front of him.
Same thing every year.

Or bump ball in front of him or over his head.......... :banghead:

Can't really argue with that article.

I am sure the club have data that indicates where our fitness levels are at. If they are not up to scratch then questions need to be asked.
If guys have sore backs like Walls said then questions need to be asked. Groin problems to Henderson might raise the questions again. Russ unable to get his body right and Collins fitness a week to week proposition. Something has gone wrong with in the strength and conditioning of our players. To ignore it and sugar coat it would be foolish.

Asking these questions is a good thing. As was reviewing the coaching position of Northern and making a change there.

The board need to shoulder responsibilty for appointing him and extending his contract but they also need to take reponsibilty for a whole lot more; the problems run much deeper.

We are imitators not innovators, in every regard, both on and off the field. e.g. the press-we saw how effective that was last night. Good a couple of years ago-redundant now. A trend emerges and we jump on board instead of starting the trend. Next year we will bulk up. DER!

Collingwood has the Ray Croc ' turn key method'. Basically an employee can go fron one Mcdonalds store to another and be able to slot right in and know what to do. Collingwood loses a foot soldier and replaces them with another who knows what to do and fits in to their "turn key method' eg. Ball goes down Sidebottom or Beams step in. Carazzo or Murphy go down and who do we bring in?

In the back ground, however, they are developing their players so Sidebottom and Beams were ready. If the same players were at our club they be swimming in the same contimated water that exists now. Player development at Carlton=poor. I'd really be interested to see what type of player Kane Lucas would be if he were at Collingwood. I'm guessing playing good footy in the seniors.

Collingwood lose a truck-load of assistant coaches and change their senior coach and it's business as usual. Collingwood have a truck-load of injuries and it's business as usual.

Greg Swan you came from that environment, you are on top dollar, you are our CEO, but none of these structures seem to be in place at Carlton. Why? Are you hiding? Haven't heard from you in a while.

At season's end the whole club needs to audited from top to bottom and performance evaluated by an external organisation. Unfortunately board members are like pollies, eager to maintain power and protect their patch, rather than doing what's best for the club or country. I stopped voting years ago.

Our aim should be to return to being the best run club in the country with the best development program and the rest will take care of itself, otherwise a new coach will simply just buy the board more time but the foundations will still be crumbling under foot.

Yes, but who is going to do this evaluating?

A subcommittee made up of Sticks, Gleeson, Fraser Brown, and Jeanne Pratt. They'll fairdinkum go thru the club with a fine tooth comb. And about time too. I can't wait. It'll make all the difference. I hope we end up getting a new assistant dietician out of it.

Yes there are some injury concerns and players seem to come back and get reinjured.

Back injury that even specialists can't put their fingers on are probably beyond fitness staff.

So are the fitness staff responsible for

1) Forward set-up
2) Kick-ins ( though we look much better with Watson)
3) Lack of spirit and buy in to game plan
4) Lack of plan-B as plan A is not working
5) Lack or ability to keep cool under pressure
6) Lack of a chop out for Judd
7) Woeful disposal?

No ? So who is? Property stewards?

This coming after Kernahan's speech calling for unity!

So after this article I am assuming Cordy will be gone by the end of the week. Everything will be better after that.

Bring back Peter Mulkearns.

Sure, our fitness levels were the worst in the league when Cordy took over, but geez our injury lists were minimal back then..

LOL now watch Cordy now blame the back injuries on someone else at the club - like he did with our boxing coach (Tim Smith).

In any business organisation, when something goes wrong down the line - it's the manager that generally cops the flack for it, unless you're Justin Cordy.

We should just cut him and use his $370,000 salary elsewhere.

agreed

I'll add to your list G22

8) Astonishing selections/non selections/scapegoating (Thornton, Bower, Collins, Russell, OHalpin (delist???), Joseph)
9) Obsession with certain players comimg to our club (Warnock, Mclean)
10) Gibbs (enough said.....should be an A+ grader by now but is nowhere near it)
11) inability to cope with being hunted or winning games we should (Dogs, Nth, Freo, Ess games to name a few)

Yeah lets blame injries for all of that Messrs Sticks and Ratts

In all fairness there wasn't much detail and a quick chat but he basically said he is very unpopular amongst staff and players.

Made a comment about the great job of getting Brock McLean. I assume this was done initially without Ickes knowledge.

I know for a fact that several senior players cannot stand him and this has gone on for a while and is now getting worse.

It was Icke who offered Melb pick 11 so he knew all about getting McLean.

Haven't the Gold Coast sacked their guy and are chasing a new high performance guru?

Perhaps Cordy will be heading north.
