Tonight was the most telling, blunt, trademark definition of our season. Disgusting, heartless, devoid of any structure, desire or pride in the Club, themselves or each other. Embarrassing, third-rate garbage delivered from a shambolic "group" (in the loosest sense) of masqueraders. Can we please fast forward to the off season where we start to hose this wreckage out? Right now we're terminal, and this prolonged death is excruciating.

Collins' omission still has me perplexed

Eddie McGuire stood by his man in 2005 when they finished second last from memory ... played in a prelim and lost by under a goal and then won a flag in 2010. In 2005 the Collingwood supporters wanted Malthouse's blodd ... they were seething.

I am not advocating that Ratten will resurrect the team and go on and win a flag.

What I am advocating is that it is too simplistic to just think getting rid of Ratten will solve all our issues. Our issues run deeper because our club still does not accept that it must invest heavily in recruiting and development both in dollars and mindset. We get Judd ... "we got our man" and so we have the mindset that this is what will bring us long term success. We believe that we can build a team on who we can acquire from elsewhere. It won't happen.

The thought that we can invest in a part time VFL coach is wrong for us. We just don't get it.

We have gathered too many players with poor execution in decision making and disposal ... we are the worst short kicking team in the competition.

We have gathered too many talls that lack aerial judgment, struggle to take marks in tight congested situations and spoil in tight congested situations.

Our development is lacking with players

(a) not going up in notches as they gain game time and

(b) better credentialed players not showing enough to put them in key spots in games (for example the likes of Gibbs, Yarran and Walker playing in pockets and flanks and not in key midfield match winning roles).

Okay, go ahead folks and sack Ratten ... but nothing will change at Carlton because "we still see what we see and therefore we will be what we be".

NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL WE CHANGE OUR MINDSET.

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.
As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result ... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it. Now, put the cold water away.
Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted. Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment...... with enthusiasm. Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked.
Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs.
Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey. Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water.Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.
Why, you ask? Because in their minds...that is the way it has always been!
This, my friends, is how the Carlton Football Club currently operates.. and this is why, from time to time:
ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME.

I don't understand. We coulda had class. We coulda been a contender. We coulda been somebody, instead of bums, which is what we are, let's face it.

And just this year they've uncovered 4 or 5 kids that can play right off the bat after 5 years in the top 4!

Doubt i will bother going to anymire games this year. What a waste of my money to buy a captains club! Wont be repeating that mistake in a hurry.
