Laidler is either the unluckiest player in the AFL atm or he has been brought back too early yet again.

Daniel Menzel might be the unluckiest
Missed a flag by doing an ACL last year, first game back does the opposite knee

This notion of playing injured players or rushing players back is probably not going to be helped by having a coach who is hanging by a thread. Needing every senior player he can get

Luck has absolutely nothing to do with this.

The guy has re-injured his knee TWICE since the first dislocation.

That is 3 significant knee injuries in the space of half a season.

Its absolutely flowering farcical.

Farcical, amateur hour.

"I don’t know if they’re (Laidler and Chris Yarran) 100 per cent fit, but they should play 70-plus (per cent of the match) I’d imagine" -Robert Hyde Coach of Northern Blues.

Yup career on line rushing players back, so predictable and very sad for the player.

So over this season already.

Probably why it may be better to cut him loose sooner rather than later....

Will be interesting to hear the extent of this dislocation. Did the tightened ligament tear or did the kneecap dislocate similar to the way it did before the op.

These injuries are the worst. I don't think he came back early. It was the standard time out. Maybe the docs are looking at the wrong cause of the dislocation.

If the ligament allowed the dislocation due to not being healed after the op or a tear then that would be an issue.

I'm sure this is no way the fault of anyone at the club, and we should just accept injuries as just something that happens.

Except if we have a look at our handling of injured playersd OVERALL over the last two seasons... we see a pattern

Nah, I've decided that there's nothing anyone at the club can do to prevent these things from happening, these things just happen. After all, if there was, you'd expect that fitness personnel would be questioned and/or supporters would be given some transparency about what's really going on. Considering none of this seems to take place, everything is okey-day!

It sounds like the onset of panic, to me. It's like through the fear of not performing we conspire to put into practise procedures that insure that we don't. Anyone who plays in Laidler's position probably feels pressured, too.

Similar articles have been in the media our past 2-3 games and we haven't got the job done. Thus they don't mean shit to me unless they back it up with a win.

I was going to post the link in the "Clutching at straws thread".

Quote:
Defender Jeremy Laidler will undergo surgery on his left knee tomorrow, ending his 2012 season.

Laidler injured his knee during the second quarter of the Northern Blues game against Geelong in the VFL at Visy Park on Saturday. It will end a frustrating season for Laidler with injury restricting him to just four matches.

Saturday’s match was his return to action, having missed the previous eight games following surgery on his left knee to tighten the ligaments after injuring it in the opening minutes of the round four match against Essendon* at the MCG.

Laidler had completed a solid preparation for his return to football, even delaying a return an extra week to gain more fitness in his training.

General Manager Football Operations, Andrew McKay said the injury was disappointing for Jeremy and also for the team as Laidler is an important member of the Carlton side.

“This is obviously extremely disappointing for Jeremy, particularly after the hard work he has just completed to return to playing. He is a very important player and has been very positive around the club in the last few weeks as he prepared for the last half of the season,” said McKay.

“It is most unfortunate, his knee was strong and he had recovered from the injury he sustained in round four and there was certainly no obvious risk in Jeremy playing on Saturday. It is one of those things that can happen in our game,” McKay added.

Just one of those things...
