Slim chance of Carlton making finals. I made what I thought was concrete bet with a mate in regards to this and come to grips with it and am paying up now. Given I see Carlton, saints & tigers fighting for last spot its hard to see blues winning enough given tigers play 7 bottom 10 teams in their final 10 games.

If Judd, yarran, waite & murph would all benefit to be rested for majority if not all of remainder of season then it would be in the best interest.

Not saying lay down and give up but there's no point ruining the start of 2013 too.

Get experience into boots, Watson, Buckley & Lucas. Quit resorting to Russell, Joseph, hampson & bower. They're too costly. Play hendo wherever he is to be played in 2013. Play Gibbs in the guts for multiple games if he doesn step up in absence of Judd & murph then he needs to make radical changes in the off season to rectify it. Get the weapon over from Essendon* to toughen him up or something

HUN reporting that Laidler will make his way back through VFL this weekend and most likely line up against the saints!

That's a big inclusion!!!

A really, clear, sign.

Hampson doesn't cost us anything if he's one of two rucks. We didn't have a problem beating Collingwood and Richmond "The next big thing" Football Club with Hammer playing. It wouldn't be a bad move to give Kreuzer another week off like we planned to against GWS. Or we could drop Warnock to rotate Hampson, Kreuzer, Walker and Henderson as forwards. They could exploit Gibson, Stratton and Schoenmakers who are undersized.

The Weapon.

Warnock & kreuzer are the two best rucks. Why rest warnock? He's already targeted by opposition clubs. I know which two I'd rather keep.

The weapon comment was more a statement that if Gibbs doesn step up like he, the coach & the team have expected he should do a mass preseason focusing on strength and aggression. At this point we'd be better off trading him while his price is still high.

Trading Gibbs... hmmm.. I am as ruthless as it gets, I like the notion - but Gibbs is playing week in week out. His attitude is very good, unfortunately he does need to be re programmed in the off season to play midfield. When given a task and puts his mind to it, he just never loses.

Ya reckon .?

Play him where he's of most value. He wasn't bad on the ball but we did lose a fair bit of composure down back.

I wouldn't be paying up just yet = we will play finals in 2012. Just going to be hard to get into Preliminaries from were we will be coming from.

His mind was on breaking into the midfield and making an impact in 2012 at the start of the season

It wasn't the fact we won't win the games we're Spose to it's more the fact the teams vying for those last spots are better positioned. Richmond have a dream run home. Who do u see Carlton pushing out of the 8?

How come when we beat Collingwood the media and supporters went crazy about how many injured players Collingwood had ... and thats why we beat them ... Yet when we are hit seriously with injuries ... its all the coaches fault ... amazing.

Anyway ... I don't think there is anyway we can beat the Hawks unless it rains. They just match up too well against us. I still believe the Dawks will win the flag.

we caught woods at a stage when they had a naive coach and since then they still have had many injuries but they have steadied the ship.

meanwhile we are playing salad football!

taking games in isolation is a worry!grasping onto the straws of an isolated game is a worry also! as seen just here!

everything must be taken into a where context!

you cannot be serious when you bring a single game from within a season of failures into the equation as your knockout punch!

I remember sitting down at the start of the season looking at the draw and thinking "geez we beat the Hawks we can really say we've turned the corner"...

Well that probably still applies, but not in the way I hoped it would. These guys are up and down but they love the congested stuff and have a forward line where a kick and hope long bomb actually works.

Always said that we need to win in the middle to win the game and it applies more than ever here for obvious reasons. And that is what worries me. Don't rate their backs one bit though, Gibson is a spud and Birchall is damaging off half back but oh so unaccountable and pretty awful in the air.

Please play two rucks only
Please don't play AJ on Rioli. Love his heart and if he gets a game, put him in the middle.
Please protect Judd at least a little bit
Please base selections on merit based on a fortnight of NB games. Name shouldn't matter. Just form.
Please win

P.S big game for Watto. He's looking likely to match up on Roughhead so good luck to the boy. (Watch him get dropped, Bower get a call up to play on Buddy)

Given our current form and our track record of succumbing to "bully boy" tactics promised by Hawthorn, it will be hard to see us get this one. Shame as it will be my only live game for the next year or so. If we do pinch it it could well be the turning point for a strong end of season run.
