It's all that's keeping me sane at the moment. Maybe we need a truly revolting year where we play nowhere near our potential. Maybe the boys need to have a really GHL at themselves in the off season. Maybe we need to put games into our young blokes as this year is pretty much shot.

Actually. The only other positive out of this - the world obviously isn't going to end in 2012. Thanks Blueman.

It could be, but what we have found out is we need a clean out of the third tier of seasoned players and bring in kids to refresh the list.

A Joel Selwood would be a huge help!!

Pity Geelong had made a prelim in 2005.

The comparison to Geelong in 2006 may keep you sane Heavs, and it's certainly crossed my mind too, but it's a bit of a pipedream, really.

Made the Semi final and beaten by 3 pts (remember bloody Nick Davis?). Same as us actually.

Then they were 2-3 in 2007 until they said enough was enough and went on one of the great dynasties. Had the talent always but not the workrate until that point. So much is between the ears.

Still can have a crack at it this year...Carrots, Laidler, Waite and Scotland back after WC game
Some players need to be seriously dropped.
Ratts will have huge issues with Hendo/Watson after the bye.. what to do with Hendo? Play Hendo in backline to win games or re invigorate him at CHF again and develop Watto at CHB?

Give up scarponi, have a chat to Ratts, maybe the medicos forgot to tell him, wouldn't surprise me considering how great he accuracy of our injury list is.

Anyways, sick to death of the Geelong analogies... enough

Nah mate. Read Bluemans stuff. He says we win a premiership then a global war starts and the world destroys itself. It's not a prediction either. It's fact that it's a future 'world line'. I'm living my life by that mantra.

What happened in the past or what the stats show means jack shit.
Comparisons on other teams performances will only drive you further to insanity.

Carlton may just not have it in them. That is all.

Geelong have a fortress where they win all their games. That's a massive advantage. We on the other hand have Etihad-a gutful. Enough said
There is no comparison to Geel 06
If anything, we may be closer to Adelaide '11. A new coach revitalises the side and starts to play to its potential.
That won't happen cause we have the most unqualified president of all 18 clubs and a coach with the flakiest CV before assuming the role

For all the older posters, we remember years 1983-1984-1985

That is where Geelong are now. They will beat up on light weights and struggle against most of the top teams.

Injury, age and lethagy gets every team.

It happend to Richmond & Carlton in mid 70s, then Carlton in mid 80s, Essendon* in late 80s, Brisbane in now after 3 flags. The gradual slide.

You just praise the Premiership players too much, those coming in are never developed because well we still have Premiership players...

So last night old champs in Barterl, Johnson, Chapman got us one last time.

Geelong fans were happy, I was happier. When they didnt have the ball they looked very slow and with half a team out, we were mostly in it

Selwood will become the new Simon Black, a 3 time Premiership player that by the end of his career will only remember the good times. Will not be playing in them as Geelong fade away
