Hope we line up like this if Henderson and Duigan get up for the game. Wouldn't rush Kreuzer back against their ruck division which isn't the best around. Austin did the job on Pods last week. Hopefully Watson can do similar. :sly:

B: Duigan Jamison Tuohy
HB: Yarran Watson Bower
C: Simpson Mclean Gibbs
HF: Collins Henderson Bootsma
F: Betts Hampson Walker
R: Warnock Judd Ellard

I/C: Robinson Armfield Lucas Sub: Joseph/Curnow

Bootsma to play forward and try to shut Mackie or one of their rebounders down. More footy smarts than Bower. I don't want Boots to be shattered by being asked to play on Steve Johnson. :yikes:

Yes but how many times have we been beaten by a dud ruck division already this year?!

Not once. We've been beaten by more committed and confident teams. We made the Pies looked ordinary when we played hard and attacking footy. If we bring our game, then we can win. Melbourne beat the brave souls from Windy Hill.

Typical.

A little problem raises its head and the blokes have to fix it. When are the Sheila's gunna pull their weight?

Bloody women.

I don't know if he's depressed or not, but if he is, then cut him some slack, and thank god that it's not one of your children.

Not depression....just horribly out of form....

I'm actually the games record holder for Carlton. Reckon I've played over 1000 games. Busy Friday night though.

Noticed a tweet from Jarusa mentioning in 1999 after R10 WCE were top of the ladder with 8 wins and 2 losses, and we were 7th with 6 wins and 4 losses.

I think Hawkins is too good for 2nd year player Watson.
Watson is learning his trade just as Hawkins did for his first 4 years.
Watson or Bower for their resting ruckman West?????

Do we tag one of there's in the middle? Which ones? Bartel? Selwood?
Our tagger would be Joseph after the good job he did on Boak last week.
Are Bartel or Selwood taggable by Joseph??? I don't think so. They're too big for him imo.

Do we tag their attacking HBF's Enright and Mackie?
Both pretty tall and good marks let alone great distributors of the ball.
Russell could be big enough...but not in form and missed last weeks VFL game.
Robbo can do a Fletcher role, but I think we need the kamakaze pilot in the guts this week.
Surely Walker would be taking one, and they'd have to keep tabs on the spedy Tex.

So the Johnson factor??? Russell use to get him, but he's in lala land atm....could be a surprise...Duigan?
Johnson has been doing a bit of a Buddy run around the ground lately....can't kick goals from the HB, but who will be capable of keeping a lid on him? I'd say its Tuohy or Duigan.

Why play Duigan? Maybe he's finally fit. Cats are big bodies hard players and Duigan is one of our few with that shape and weight. Geez I hope he steps up to 2011 form.

I really hope we mix it up a lot, with lots of midfield rotation which include cameos from Betts, Garlett and Tex.

I'm thinking TBird for Bower, but TBird hasn't been mentioned as having recovered from glute injury.

Have to play the 3 rucks this week. We need targets at CHF and FF to straighten us up by having a target taller than Betts.

Got a chance this Friday, but I am shitting myself...just as are Cats supporters I know who have been traditionally cocky against us despite us giving them a touch up over the last 3 years. Interesting. They tell me they are not convinced that the Cats are in form, questioning whether they are developing a few this year, or on the way out. They won last week...and that's all I can think of. Winning form.

Fair chance Hawkins is out still.

Not sure Kruezer's fit for us. Hopefully Thornton's fit and recovering from his glute injury (playing like a busted arse?...lol) can go forward with Henderson leaving Hammer to just play a resting ruck role. Like to see Judd forward as well with Gibbs (screw the lazy man's role at half back) both rotating with Walker in the midfield. Betts can have a run sometimes in the midfield too sometimes (bonus then he's not a forward target one out against 3 tall defenders. We'll be lot ..lol!)Need a change there as Garlett can't get a kick in a stampede right now. Tough nuts in the guts, Robinson, Ellard, McLean, Tuohy. Jammo, Bower and Watson in defence with Yarran, Armfield and Joseph. Chuck Collins, Kerr (has to play at sometime), Lucas on the bench with Dale as sub.

I don't think Cats will shy away from their proven game plan, nor will they change it too much to match Carlton.
We're the underdogs, not them.
We drop out of the 8 if we lose and others win. It's THAT important!

I look at what you think could happen and its like everyone elses: dependent on the mifield to win.
If they struggle, Watson and Bower supporting Jammo doesn't fill me with much confidence.
Pods, Hawkin West are not novices; they the reigning Premiership fwds. Add Motlop Stokes Johnson an their mids and you have trouble if the mids leak.

I like the idea of Hendersen at CHF, love it.
But that depends on Kreuzer's availabilty?
I'm led to believe its Kreuzer, Hendo and Duigan in and Waite is out indefinetely.
If Kreuzer plays, the 3 ruckmen would be retained.

We are thin on good big talls ( because of fitness & form)
I don't think Gibbs has much choice where he's selected.

Just doing my team, I look at who to put at HB, C, HF ...on the usual types (Johnson, Enright, Mackie)...it's Gibbs everytime as that "Mr Fix it, Mr dependable in my teams. I'm always robbing Peter to pay Paul though. I reclon against Cats its time to play Ginns mid/ fwd imo to help the ream. When everyone's back he can go back to asignments for the MC.

Got a better feeling about this game than I did on Saturday night and Sunday, and Monday, and Tuesday...geez, we gotta get up. I don't want our players being average like they seem to be off field in the 'boys club'. Its all up to the players.

You have Joseph in the backline. No tagging at all? Midfield? HB?

When one's down to bugger all players left one fiddle's the side the best way you can. If Kreuzer is fit I'd chuck him in the guts as a ruck-rover. Enough 3 of ruckman with one playing permanent forward. If Duigan and Kreuzer are fit and played, and i'm sure the latter is carrying an injury, I might go like this. Not sure Hawkin's will be playing after his knee scrape. It'd be pretty soon.

Armfield, Jammo, Watson
Duigan Bower, Yarran
Simpson, McLean, Walker
Gibbs, Henderson, Judd
Hampson, Thornton, Betts
Warnock, Kreuzer, Ellard

Collins, Lucas, Tuohy, sub Dale

Robinson, Garlett, Joseph all missing from your team jim

We do need outside speed in the midfield, and you've gone with Tex and Simmo.

I like the idea of swinging Henderson CHF if we have the midfield ascendency.
Toss up between the rookie Watson and the clumsy but fast Bower. MC should know.

Mids Kreuzer Robinson Judd with Simmo and Armfield for pace outside.
Rotate McLean Curnow and Ellard through midfield.
Garlett Gibbs Betts Tex and Gibbs in the midfield rotations too.
Might be tempted to throw Armfiled back to release Tuohy and Yarran in the midfield too.

If the players just go for broke, I think we can do it.

IN: Henderson Duigan Kreuzer Thornton
OUT: Collins, Scotland, Bootsma Bower/Watson

B: Tuohy Jamison Watson
HB: Duigan Henderson Yarran
R: Warnock Kreuzer Judd
C: Simpson Robinson Armfield
HF: Gibbs Thornton Garlett
F: Walker Hampson Betts

IC: McLean Ellard Curnow Joseph

Kreuzer and Henderson won't play
Duigan may get up but unlikely
6 day turnaround and trip to perth to follow

personally i'd go with anything and everything versus Geelong
West Coast coming off a Bye is a big ask

I said last week, i thought watsons inclusion had more to do with waite being in trouble and us needing to find another kpf in henderson and hence watson to replace henderson as kpd

In a way i am glad this has happened, long term we are better off. We will never be premiers with waite as our primary forward.
