You've hit the nail on the head. UN-INSPIRING.

What do you want them to say?

They're belted if they're talking about top four and they're belted if they're not making headlines. I guess Sticks could have used the Nick Maxwell line "If you're not Carlton, then your opinion isn't important to us". That would make Ratten and the supporters confident about the coaching situation whilst they're under siege from supporters.

Or Sticks could have copied Eddie's inflated view of his wit and been insulting by saying Collingwood was the club of the Centrelink payment. Lets bring back the Jack Elliott attitude and put down opposition with insults that Eddie is too stupid to see as offensive.

Some of you are as bad as that ferret Damian Barrett.

Good stuff Kouta, there will be some here that are rapped that the shit has hit the fan and will be able to say how right they were.

In the real world this is not good, I hope it stings the players into a better effort than last Saturday night but I think the confidence will drop further, forget Boak or any other quality player they are not going to want be here as it looks like the club could explode this week and I am stuffed if I know how that is going to inspire players or fix injuries, Geelong would be sitting back thinking "how good is this".

I hope to Christ I am wrong but this could end up in dark days.

OK maybe you're right regarding the written word.
But when fronting the media it's usually the other way round.

Have I been watching too much "Yes Minister?"

Apologies.

Bit trigger happy after Uniblues effort in the Mick Malthouse thread.

No worries apology accepted......we are all a bit stressed at the moment, hopefully we can talk about more positive things next week starting with a Carlton win on Friday night.

FWIW - I was happy to read what Swan stated in the papers today, that is what I have been looking for over the last few weeks. Time to make a stance on the field. Anyway actions will be louder than words and no better stage than this Friday night to put it into practice.

About time someone spoke honestly about our performance.

And just for Kouta's benefit: I thought it was great the club leaders were talking Top 4 at the start of the year. It showed intent and desire. Even better, for a few weeks the players matched those expectations too. Well done them.

Trouble is, if you put a target out in public like that then you need to man up and speak honestly when it goes wrong. Not pretend that everything is still rosy and only a few tweaks are needed to get it right.

Our effort and work rate has been sub-standard more often than not since R4. A minor concern has become into a major issue. Talk of us missing the 8 can no longer be laughed off, in fact, it is a cold reality.

For all of the good things it has shown, our playing group has never been able to truly break away from its mentally weak tag. If we're about winning flags then that needs to be fixed.

The current coaching staff may well be up to the task, who knows, by September we may be able to look back and laugh at this six-week blip. But right now I'm not overly happy with what they're presenting to the supporters and members, and not confident at all about the ability the coaches have to remedy the situation.

Anyone else happen to catch Juddy on Nova this morning?

Does he deliberately try to sound like Ratts to take the piss, or are we cloning?

Must have been handed a script.

Isn't it good when they're all on the same page?

he says the club is waiting on forwards.

Said nothing of note (albeit was a non-football related appearance, something to do with Dave Hughes). Topic eventually turned to our form...Repeated the same lines about undisciplined incidents, sounded like he was repeating Ratt's email to the members word for word, got caught up and then changed the subject to Hughesy jumping off the bandwagon.

Awkward...

Can't work with the people above him (the Board) or the people below him (D Macdonald Footy Manger)

Doesn't leave much in between.

probably says more about the mechanical structures of a footy team than the names.

swan and this guy were OK at the magpies. move them to another environment and they flounder like the goldfish in the dirty waters.

Mate, imagine the pressure on Ratts by supporters and the media should we lose our next 4 games (which is very likely the way we re playing at the moment)..

Must say listening to Eddie's comments, Sticks didn't need to come out with a media release, a bit over the top.

As for the below comment by Sticks, no mention that Ratts has the support to see out the year? In fact I interpret this as the assistants are successful and knowledgeable, Ratts is just the leader.

"We have had no need to as we have a mix of successful and knowledgeable coaches led by senior coach Brett Ratten."
http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/newsar ... fault.aspx

Caro also mentioned how Ratts was given a stern talking to after the comments about Boak in the media, apparently against Club policy? Ratts obviously forgot the policy?
