I believe in the club, I believe we can turn it around, but I have no faith in our supporter base. Make richmond supporters look like paragons of loyalty.

Take it easy Wookie. For the last month or so we have clearly known what the problem is and that is our inability to win contested possession. The coaches to this point have not been able to address it with the exception Melbourne. We play Geelong, West Coast, Hawthorn and Collingwood in the next month so I don't see it getting any easier.
You question my loyalty and you don't even know me, I have travelled to Perth in the lean years and sat through 120 point losses, I have been a member for 25 plus years and never left a game early and have had to sit through some awful drubbings.
I am loyal but I am not stupid.

Didnt specify you, and I dont care how long you've been a member. If I questioned your loyalty its because you've questioned my intelligence.

Heres the facts, we're 6-4 and now have 9 of the starting 22 out for various reasons. Under those circumstances in any other year, with any other team 6-4 would be acceptable. But not us, nooooo. 4 losses - FOUR - and its the end of the goddamn world for most of you.

I'll give you some more facts, Collingwood went over to Adelaide the week before and played Adelaide not Port Adelaide with just as many players missing. They managed to stick with Adelaide all night whilst losing there only tall defender and still win. We play a bottom 6 team with a similar amount of injuries and by half way through the second quarter we are blown out of the water.

For mine, its:

Geelong = Loss
West Coast = Loss
Bye
Hawthorn = Loss
Collingwood = Loss
Nth Melb = Win
Western Bulldogs =Win
Sydney = Win
Richmond = Loss
Brisbane = Win
Essendon* = Loss
Gold Coast = Win
St Kilda = Loss

Total: 11 wins 11 Losses

We will probably end up 9th with that record, and just miss the finals, but that might be a blessing in disguise as surely that ll see the end of Ratten and a complete review and changes to the dead wood on our playing list, coaching panel and around the Club...

Collingwoods injuries are nowhere near as damaging to structure as ours are. When the Pies are missing 9 of the starting 22 including your KPF (waite), KPD (Henderson), 2 key midfielders (murphy, carazzo), 3 key defenders (laidler, duigan, yarran), a key ruckman (kreuzer), the traditional backup for KPD/KPF (thornton), and even the reserves KPP (white, Mitchell, Rowe). Not to mention that we've had Jamison amd Warnock out as well, and now Scotland will be missong at least 3 weeks.

Id argue that our injuries would have more impact on us than Collingwoods on their side.

The notion that we're entitled to wins because teams are below us has ALWAYS been rubbish. THe dees got up, Brisbane got up. At full strength maybe, but Port was a danger game before we even flew over.

Can't see us beating Sydney to be honest, so 10-12 win loss record would be my guess

I reckon we are entitled to a bit more of a fight than to be gone by the second quarter against a team well below us despite the personel missing.

no one is arguing that we arent putting in enough effort. Its the vitriol that goes along with that that is irritating.

Must have been the quarter we have suffered most of our injuries in....

The knee jerk reaction is in writing the entire season of a side off before the halfway stage, when that side has previously demonstrated its capability and despite that side having been beset by injury to many of its key structural components. The same poster, in another thread, goes as far as to proclaim that our "premiership window" is shut for the next 10 years! If that's not the stuff of knee-jerk reaction then I don't know what is.

If I recall, Collingwood did it more or less at the half way point a few years ago when Rocca got injured on top of a few others. They sent them all to surgery during the last bit of the season so they would be fit for the pre-season. They then got Daisy and Pendles at the draft and zoomed straight back up the ladder. Not a bad result for them if you ask me. Not that I'm suggesting they tanked it. After all, only Carlton would do such a thing.

Difference is that Collingwood were 3-7 after 10 games that season (we are 6-4), were coming off a 13th-placed finish the previous season (we are coming off an agonising defeat in an away semi-final) and had not within the first 10 games of the season played any football which demonstrated that they could genuinely match it with the better sides in the competition. They probably did tank towards the end of that season, but they were never even a "good" side that year anyway. So, with respect, I don't think the situations are all that comparable.

On the couch tonight, they showed some key stats to illustrate our significant drop off in some key areas in the past 4 weeks.

Basically going from top 4 to 16/17 in all categories. With the upcoming opposition we will face, unless the players go through a major change in work rate and mindset, we will get smashed.

Tough to make finals from 6-8 and no doubt there will be major consequences.

All I know is that we are good enough to match it with the best of them in 2012.
The fact we have played so badly lately makes it all the more harder to accept because of the above.
I know people will shoot me down and say I am over-evaluating our list/team - but I am not!

Threads like these give people like you a good dose of reality.

We reached our potential as a playing list last year and the wheels are now starting to come off after the club internally rated itself much better than what it is actually is.

I have us on 11 wins, 2 games behind Richmond in 8th.

4th is Hawthorn on 16 wins. 7th has 15 wins.

Conclusion, our top 4 hopes are over the next two loses. Our finals hopes are over the first two loses after the bye. Ratts needs a miracle to survive.

So don't read it and bathe in the glory that we are 6 - 4

We've been shithouse since the end of round 3. Our wins have been against GWS and Melb

The club deserves every bit of vitriol it receives

If it bothers you HTFU

No, threads like these an adoption of the "throw the baby out with the bathwater" approach, which is adopted upon things not going exactly to plan. These threads afford people like you the chance to make the "big call", hoping that others are of a similar mind. Among many problems, these threads unquestioningly assume that, despite variable factors being at play over the course of a long, the same pattern of form is going to continue indefinitely.

No reality there.
