....but how far would he need to hit it? I think its impossible to clear the amount of players that around the ball currently.

I liked when we did it against the pies but others have done it with success against them too. I feel its too risky to play such a low percentage play against the way teams are playing us at our stoppage. Its an easy shortcut and i dont think its a sustainable move that will take us forward.
We need to get into the battle not bang our head against a wall trying to find ways to avoid it. We have proven in the last month that trying to play the outside game against teams hellbent on stopping us in not the way forward.

Was thinking exactly the same thing D7

In fact, Ess and Rich are overtaking us at a fast rate of knots. Rich have their two better defenders out as well.
But hey, we're Carlton.......it will all just happen!!
Saints are also closing the gap on us with their new 2012 side.
But hey, we're Carlton......we'll just wait for free agency and it will all just happen!!
Adel wasn't factored into when we planned to be top 4
But hey, we're Carlton.....and apparently Ratts is like Bomber Thompson circa 2006 and it will all just happen!!

I've been wondering about this for a while.

When we're in space we look really good.

When we're in the middle of a pack we struggle.

We have one of the tallest rucks in the league who consistently gets first hands on the ball.

Why are we tapping the ball straight down into the pack?

Belt the !@#$%& thing into space and play to our strengths.

I'm happy for someone to explain why this won't work.

Am I missing something here?

You only need to do every 5-10 ruck contests too and that'll be enough to make the opposition worry about it.

And put someone out there removing one from the pack?

harder to control the accuracy of a tap 5-10 metres away than say 2m. More variables with time coming into it and not having as much peripheral vision to see where the opp are placed. Having said that, I agree ity should be part of the gameplan and maybe practiced more at training

Yep... mix it up a little

Two better defenders. Poor Richmond, Grimes and who?

Saints have been ahead of us for at least a decade.

Bombers I agree with.

Round 22 when we know if sides have passed us, not round 10. All it mean is that sides are more up and running NOW. It's about peaking at the right time. Same in any sport. One thing Ratten has said is that we tailed off at the end of the last 2 seasons hence he planned on working into it slower next year. So we'll wait and see what happens.

Richmond's defence is sh1t and got opened up by a St.Kilda side playing crap and lacking intensity to the tune of 16.17. Good thing for Richmond they kicked liked dog's hind legs. Richmond's improved, are ok free running but once a side pressures their midfield they'll be done. Have to start somewhere though.

So Dale misses 3 games in a row just so he can travel with the senior team and gain some experience.

Dale travelled because there was a doubt over Collins
Happy for him to have the experience

KK the kid has been going since December. Surely after 6 months as an 18 yr old a few weeks off will do his skinny body some good. I would have thought the experience of traveling and watching the guys prepare for an Interstate game was worth its weight. Obviously you know what's best for the kid so I will defer to your greater insight.

Had a feeling Kreuz was out when watching training. At the ground. Heaps of Blue baggers around....

Matthew Kreuzer completed a light training session yesterday but experienced tightness in his hamstring. The decision was made to leave him out of tonight's team to ensure no damage was done. Andrew Collins is his replacement. #IAMCARLTON

A positive in my opinion. Makes side better balanced on a cold night in Adelaide

Don't see GWS or other teams resting first year players for 3 games?

3 games is pretty much a month without competitive football, don't see how that helps anyones development, no matter their size. 1 game here and there is fair enough.

As for the experience of travelling? Dale is missing out on the key part, actually preparing to play the game. Now he can learn what its like to be a travelling supporter
