It's lucky we are in the middle of the "easy" part of the draw. Hang on.....................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that there's been a bit of an over-reaction.

Look at he draw. If it takes 13 wins to make the 8 we are borderline. 4th is gone

The draw is still a bit of an unknown though I reckon. I thought when we lost to Essendon* that we'd dropped an easy one. Similarly a few weeks ago I'd pencilled in Adelaide as a comfortable win. In both case it was based on the presumption that those teams were middle of the road at best. They're sitting two and three on the ladder at moment ...

have you been the last cpl of weeks kev?

give it 6 weeks and with our draw over that time we will be lucky to be 7-7 with a % thats slightly above 100. thats average.

average on last years performance and this years start is us going backwards.

backwards is shit. case closed.

Went to see GWS ... didn't think we took it very seriously, but 10 goals is a good win. Don't do Monday night football. Was planning to go the Adelaide game but the young bloke got the sniffles. With hindsight I'm pretty happy he did.

Anyway ... I think it's too soon to state with any certainty that we've gone backwards. I'm not even sure if we were any better that 5/3 after eight rounds last year were we?

I don't think it is the players. I reckon Ratts is simply not good enough to take the next step and players are probably complacent with his good guy approach.

Old school I know but in the words of Dick Pratt don't just get the best person available, get the best person. For what its worth, Malthouse is probably the best person and he just happens to be semi-available.

Kev..........where have you been the last month ? - we've been complete shite. Beating Tiges (before they found their mojo), Brissy (crapola) and GWS (after a terrible first half) hardly count as "good" wins either. There's no over-reaction on this site, just an emotional reaction because a lot of us realise that we're nowhere near as good as we thought/hoped.

Our run of games after Melb and Port will be season defining. Really can't see us having the depth to cover the loss of Carrots and Murph, so those 4 games are huge asks. We will only be a chance if we come up with a completely new game plan, not trying to "tweak" one that has already been ripped apart.

I think that we are a type 5 - passed easily
or possibly a type 6 ragged around the edges

Going on Sunday's showing I'd say type 7, no solid pieces and entirely liquid, very easy to pass!

type 3 during the first quarter.
type 5 in the second and some of the third quarter.
type 7 for the rest of the match.

Anything less than type 7 will get us through this week as Melbourne own type 7 footy....

In the theme of this thread.........If we continue to play like we have for the last 3 weeks can I tender an early design to replace the 'I am Carlton T-Shirts' for next year's membership drive:

Yeah but MIL, you're being a bit selective with your recollections. We also beat Freo over there, which is more than Geelong could manage. And we completely pantsed last years runners-up. To my mind Melbourne and Brisbane deserve the S.H.I.T. tag, we don't.

Point taken though - we're all a bit disappointed. I think that after the Collingwood game a few of us, (myself included), got a bit too happy. One positive to finish on though : barring further mishap etc, Laidler, Murphy and Carrazzo will all be back for the finals, and with a few games under their belt. Now all we've got to do is get there.

It just seems we're shite across the board. I've been sceptical of the recruiting for 4-5 years and I think it's being played out right now. I think Ratten gets out-coached. I also think we should have more members than we do given we have around 1 million supporters around Australia. We haven't even made it to a pre-lim in the last 5 years since all the draft picks and it doesn't look like changing this year. I think in the last two weeks the effort has been there from the players but we're not strong enough around the contest- are they doing weights? Let's hope these issues can be addressed at some stage.

This is a venting thread, and I understand that, but with the cacophony of noise on the same topic in this forum, I'm locking it and directing you all to the following threads:

Player venting/defending

Coach venting/defending

Administration venting

Spreading the same stuff to too many threads makes this forum unreadable for most people, including the ranters themselves who just wind themselves up even more in the process. Not going to tolerate another minute of it. A poster recently accused me of treating posters like school children. They were wrong then, but they're not wrong now; this is the animals running the farm at the moment.
