I agree. If the plan was to nurse him through a game, play him in the 2's.

Starting as a sub there is always a chance you'll be in the game early, it's no guarantee of a rest. If he's underdone, he's underdone. If he's ok, Yarran starts. He has to.

Maybe his 1 arm tackle in the last minute of the game might give away a clue.

How has this happened? We all obviously overrated the players and the coaching staff, or maybe the whole team was dependant on Carrots.

At least Buckley and Bootsma had good games in the 2nds.

Bring on the Demons!

Buckley may be good one day but sizewise he makes Josh Bootsma look like Jonathan Brown

The blame of the current predicament now rests solely on the coaching staff and the match committee. How come they have failed to develop a forward structure? How come they have failed to develop Gibbs into a key match winning role in the team, wherever that may be (Mid, back, forward)... How come intensity is completely absent in the group? How come after several pre-seasons there is little development happening at the next tier? There is no next tier.

We may beat Melbourne, and Port Adelaide... but at this stage the period of Geelong through to Collingwood will be four losses in a row, and the club will be 7-8... and this is a club who said nothing below top 4 was good enough.

If the above occurs, people at the club must put their hand up and hand in their resignation. They failed. Just own up to it.

Supporters have a right to be filthy. The expectation of a continual rise to the top is a right... a right supported by the attitude of the club before Round 1 and certainly after Round 3.... then they cock it up because they're found out for a bunch of pretenders.

I went to the game. Whatever the so-called experts say ... i.e ... we are a one trick pony ... we are not tough enough etc etc ... There is one and only one reason we are crap.

WE CAN'T GET THE BALL OUT OF THE MIDDLE

Its pretty simple really ... and it stuffs up your offense and your defense.

Carlton have been so infatuated with pace ... they have forgotten that pace is useless if you can't get your hands on the ball.

The impact of losing Carrazzo cannot be underestimated ... now Murphy (who has been terrible the last 2 weeks).

Hell ... GWS had more clearances than us ... now St Kilda and Adelaide ... when is the message gunna get through.

OK ... so now what .... who do we have left in the side with ball winning abilities. I am not talking about more outside runners like Lucas.

I can think of only 2 players we can try.

Brock McLean and Tom Bell.

There are no other options. One of these blokes has to come into the side. I don't think Bell is ready (and he is a rookie)... so that leaves McLean.

Its time ... and we could do no worse than we are doing at the moment. I am fed up with this argument about pace. You still have to have ball winners ....

People used the same argument to get rid of Greg Williams ... its crap ... We need to recruit big time ball winners ... whether they have pace or not.

Melbourne will go close to beating us. Its crisis time.

Noticed when the teams ran on to the ground after 1/2 time that our blokes looked like midgets compared to Adelaide

It's always been that way. The end-of-season trip this year should be to the weights room.

It isn't about talent, it's about attitude and physical toughness, make no mistake about it we were smashed by a side that had more desire and were physically tougher than we were bringing in light framed kids like Buckley and Bootsma is not going to solve the problem neither is kicking the crap out of the coaches there was nothing they could do yesterday as Adelaide were too strong and far too good, maybe it is time to try McLean as we don't seem to have a player capable of doing the hard grunt work apart from Robbo and Judd, and Judd is wasted in that role.

The players need to take complete responsibility for this.

Quite simply, we are soft.

A team of individuals who are unable to get tough, whether it is to win the ball or stick up for a mate. If I grew up with these boys I would move since I would expect someone to belt the hell out of me with no fear of retribution.

Soft

I have better things to do with my time than to sit about watching this garbage.

Even in the dark days, I was not so embarrased to be a Carlton supporter.

Good luck getting 50K of members this year Blues.

I hope I regret this post at the end of the year but I cannot see it.

good Morning taff.
Truth is subjective in this case.
It's easy, too easy to cage and categorise people isn't it.
I wrote a reply to Rhino as to why I didn't agree with what Visitor said.
I believe he was lauding it over us, and smugly. I happened to hear a certain Essendon* supporter on the radio last week gloating about how they grew there own players and we stole all ours.
As I said, that undermines all the effort over the last few years that our players have put in.
I don't think it was anything but trolling, as we are all pretty aware of our failings at the moment, and to me, it was no more than sticking the knife in. hopefully we agree to disagree.
I hate the
'We are carlton and #*$# the rest attitude' ,and have stated so well before now. I hated the corrupt period too. I think Dannyboy's post on that was succinct.
Just because I don't go off about a lot of stuff, doesn't mean I don't think about it.
I'm definitely thinking about something Doc sherrin has been trying to say regarding the mid field.
Thinking about it a lot.
Regarding Gibbs...has anyone thought that if another club got him, he might turn into a superstar within months?
Or if we got Dangerfield, that he might suddenly become pretty average?

I guess I'm saying that we have hugely talented players, but right now we are out of sorts.
I'm gonna back Ratts to figure out what's wrong. I believe he's earned the right to try and aim for that Top 4 spot. We look like failing right now.
However, for me, I'm happy to get a bit more detached, and see whether we turn it around.
After all, there are a lot of experienced and talented players and staff at our club.
Yes, there are things I'd like to see change at the club, but right now, there are more than enough of our own, hating on everything CFC.

Lets' give it til way later in the season and see then.

ps. If it were Essendon* failing badly right now, would you feel the need to stroll over to The Hanger, and give them some advice, and admonishment?( ok, there'd be a few who would) If you did, you'd be nothing but a big fat tosser troll.
They'd know what was wrong with their own team.
To then say you have only the best intentions about it is .....

Funny thing is Bentick's body shape is closer to whats required and he would be a better option than Brock.

Mind you our conditioning staff would have turned Benticks naturally stout and muscular frame into something resembling Steve Monaghetti.

...yes, probably happen. Look at Griggs, Jacobs and possibly even, dare I say, JK.

Well with all this talk about who is soft and who isn't, well I'd like to make the following statement:
I AM SOFT.
I went to a couple of the pre-season games and the Essendon* and GWS games and frankly did not see anything that made me feel we could be a contender this year. Watching the 2s on TV is even worse because there just doesn't seem to be anyone coming through who is going to make any difference in the short term at least.
Still have bad memories of sitting there at Etihad a few years ago watching the Crows belt us and thought to myself...no I can't stand going through that again.
So I considered my options yesterday.......go to Etihad and face the music or go down the road and watch the ice hockey as Melbourne Ice were playing Gold Coast and were red hot favorities to win.
So yes I took the soft option and went to the ice hockey.
And yes you guessed it Gold Coast won 4-0!
Serves me right doesn't it.
