The Etihad factor was ignored. It shouldn't be. Carlton is unlikely to make the top four, its stated mission for 2012, unless it comes to grips with the different dimensions of its ''home''.

For the good of the club we need to start selling games into WA or re-allocate to Perth

My first message for a long time Surrey Blue - I say again - we need to move our Home Ground to the MCG for the "large Club games" and develop a new Princes Park Stadium for all "other small Club games" like GWS, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne and Footscray..

Or we could have they high callibre coaching staff devise a game plan that works at the ground. Its not like it is a suprise that there is little space to exploit our speed.

Even if we change its more likely to be a 7-4 mix than 11 games at the G. We still have to play away games there, so yes, we need to devise a game plan that works playing there as well.

Time to implement the Zorro maneuver.
Zed like slashes from one end to the other.
Probably won't win anything, but hey, the running will look pretty. :?

I doubt the MC would've been going into these games WITHOUT some sort of specific playing style - just might not be effective ?

What about 2010 when we thrashed the saints on a Monday nite?
Didn't seem to trouble Jiffy then.
Have to lean toward Andy McKay's 'accuracy' theory over dimensions.

Exactly. Second half against Sydney last year was pretty awesome as well. Warnock's miss only thing that stopped us beating the Premiers last year likewise.

Whilst I acknowledge that we play poorer there, I could have sworn it was at the MCG, and not Etihad that Essendon* implemented the same game plan on us just 4 weeks ago.

Worrying about this makes you one what Mick Malthouse calls 'a hope player'. A player who worries about the opposition, weather, ground, whose missing from the opposition etc etc rather than a player who just goes out and delivers regardless of the circumstances.

Ground dimensions dont stop you from tackling, winning contested ball, clearances, working your arse off at stoppages, spreading, two way running, nailing your opportunities etc.

Agree.
Just sounds like more excuses. PP, our training venue, would be pretty close to Etihad dimensions anyway.

Most top teams seem to have no trouble winning there....using it as an excuse is just another sign of weakness....Cats, Scum,Filth,Hawks all win there consistently....and then have no problem winning on the bigger grounds as well....

This & this ^^

We can't get out of playing there whether they're home or away games.

If we struggle to perform there or any other ground for that matter, means we've failed to prepare.

Yes and No - a home ground with a classic home ground advantage along the lines of SCG, Subiaco, Football Park and Kardina Park provides a football advantage to the Club.

Princes Park was a fortress is the halcyon days and we could bank 4 points with regularity.....
